“Come back here”, yelled Lisa’s step mother. She had done it again, Lisa that is. Snuck into the attic, looking at pictures of her mom before she passed away. Her step mother Miranda, tried in all her might to erase her memory from the home. She had bought new furniture and burned the old ones. She pawned Lisa’s mom’s jewelry, and constantly sucked up to Lisa’s dad. “I hate you”, Lisa screamed as she ran into her room and locked the door. Lisa knew her step mom wasn’t in love with her father, she knew Miranda was only with him because of his lawyer salary. She knew she was a gold digger. In fact even before Miranda became her step mother she hated her. She knew something was funny about her.

She remembers the encounter she had with her when she was about eleven. Her father had to take her to work because her mom had to be on bed rest. So her father Jonathan says “Princess I want you to meet my secretary Miranda, and she is going to be watching you while daddy works”. Lisa looked up into Miranda’s face right into a fake smile. “O where going to have such a wonderful day missy” she said with enthusiasm to Lisa. Lisa was quiet and felt a strange vibe around her dad and Miranda, the way Miranda smiled at her father, Lisa couldn’t figure it out then, but in the future she knew what the feeling was. Of course it was secret; it was that down low kind of thing that is meant to be kept in the dark.

Her father was cheating on her mom, her mom who was sick. Anyway Lisa smirks in her head thinking about the past. She decided Miranda wasn’t an individual that was important in her life. She was a home wrecker and it was her fault Lisa was miserable. Now around this time Lisa was seventeen. She wasn’t the brightest student but she managed to pull B’s in all her classes despite the problems at home. Lisa was tired of hiding so she decided she was going to go out no matter what Miranda said. While going down the stairs I hear someone on the phone. “You know I love you Dave, I put up with this brat and her father so that we can have money to be able to survive, I don’t love him, I know you say I should just take all his money now, but him being a lawyer I have to make sure no flaws are made”.

Lisa started walking slower down the stairs and took out her phone recording this whole conversation, and for the record the person on the phone was Miranda. When Lisa heard the phone hang up she made a huge smirk and walked into the room. “Well Miranda I realized why should I run from you, all you are is a snake and a sneaky snake”. Miranda being the one track minded person she is and not catching the hint off the bat says, “Whatever go to your room” Lisa shakes her head, “hmm I think not, I’m leaving and if you know what’s good for you, you would leave soon”. Miranda catches her breath and gives Lisa an evil look, “now look little girl watch who your treating I’m your step mom!” Lisa smiles and mumbles “Not for long”, louder “I didn’t threaten you, I was stating facts I’m leaving any way bye”.

Lisa leaves on her way to her father’s job. To the security, Lisa says “Hi I’m here to talk to my father Jonathan Sanders”. Security looks at her “Sure wait here”. About fifteen minutes later her father walks into the waiting room looking stressed. “Whatever you want Lisa couldn’t you have waited till I got home” he says a little annoyed. Lisa says with determination and a little anger “first off father if I told you when you got home you would’ve been too busy with that rat in the house”. Upset father says “Watch how you talk about your mother”. AN enraged Lisa yells, “SHE WILL NEVER BE MY MOTHER”. Calmed down a little she says “dad, just please listen to me, I need you to listening to this recording I have of Miranda on the phone”. He looks uninterested but says, “Alright, let’s go to my office”. They go to his office and she plays the tape for him. Her father looks stressed and angered “Where did you get this from?” Lisa says shaken up by her father’s tone. “Well I got it from…GCO (Gets cut off)” “I will not have you making lies about Miranda, I wonder when did you find time to use a voice changer to incriminate her, all she has tried to do was get on your good side”?! Lisa looks at him like unbelievable “Dad you really feel that way you don’t trust me, you trust her more”. He smirks “Sweet heart lying isn’t pretty” Then Miranda somehow busts in the room “O there you are, honey I’ve been looking for her all day”.

Miranda says with a smirk while she runs to Lisa’s dad and hugs him. Lisa shakes her head “You know what, I don’t care anymore, I hope you too have a nice life”. Miranda says pretending hurt, “honey I have been trying so hard to get along with her maybe we should send her to boot camp” Jonathan nods “Maybe your right” Lisa says “do what you will”. That night Lisa runs away. She lives on the streets now and in shelters. Her father was found dead a month later. Miranda was never seen again, and her special friend Dave, he is wanted for murder. “Aye”, Tony yells in his girlfriend Lisa’s ear. “Lisa irately says “Babe can you find something better to do than bother me”? “Ha ha no, so what are you writing?” “Lisa makes a smirk “I’m writing a story about how life would have been if my father didn’t trust my judgment”. Tony nods head understandably “When you showed me that female on T.V. that was wanted for murder and fraud and said she was your step mom I was like wow”. “Long as she’s in jail now right, this would have to be my most horrific Childhood fear, A crazy step mother, and an untrusting father”. Lisa says contently.
