Gingerkit yawned, paws rubbing her small eyes as the dawn light seeped into the dark nursery, small chirps of the birds ringing in her ears. Her eyes opened, once again yawning. She felt a small presence next to her, knowing it's her sister Rainkit. "Wake up, sister.." she yawned. Rainkit whispered a bit. "Okay, I'm up Gingerkit." She grunted and opened her eyes to see her ginger sister. The warm ness of the nursery soothed both kits. "Do I really have to wake up now?" The grey tabby kit asked, blue eyes looking quite tired.
"No Rainkit, remember our apprentice ceremony is in a couple days? We have to train to get ready for our new mentors! Who do you wish was your mentor?" Gingerkit said excitedly while getting up, tail sliding around as she tried to encourage her sister to get up.
"Fine..!" She yawned irritably and grunted, getting up. "Why do we have to become apprentices again?"
Gingerkit's eyes widened, seemingly quite offended by the question. "Because we are five moons, silly! I know you aren't excited about it, but it'll be fun.. I promise. Can you promise me that you will always be my training buddy and help me improve?"
Rainkit yawned. "Sure." She was touched by the question but didn't let it show.
"So what are you waiting for?" Gingerkit was already halfway through the nursery entrance as her tail flicked for her sister to follow. Rainkit groaned and followed. The sun shown bright and hot rays apron the kits, making Rainkit squint to see her sister without getting blinded by the sun. The dirt underneath them was dried and hard on their paw pads. "Do we seriously have to?" She groaned. Her sister didn't reply.
Gingerkit lead her sister to the fresh kill pile and looked at the options. A dried up shrew, two mice and a plump rabbit. "You choose first." She purred. Rainkit sighed. "Alright.."
She picked at the shrew.
"Not that one!" She mewed to Rainkit.
She picked a mouse, sitting down and just looked at it.
Gingerkit picked the other mouse and started to eat quickly. Rainkit looked to her sister until she finished then ate hers.
"Hurry!" Gingerkit whined impatiently as Rainkit was taking her time. "Give me a couple more seconds," she grunted. The ginger she sighed and watched her sister eat, somewhat hungry for Rainkit's mouse herself. She yawned.
"Finished." She mewed as Gingerkit smiled. "Alright! Follow me." She got up and turned, tail swaying. Rainkit followed.
"Look, we can try to train here!" Gingerkit smiled and crouched. "Attack me, Rainkit! I'm ready!"
The grey tabby she got into a crouch as well, a bit more wonky but still a crouch. Gingerkit hissed playfully as she leaped at her sister, pushing her over and pinning her swiftly. "Haha!" She purred in triumph.
Rainkit growled and pulled her hind legs up and kicked Gingerkit off a bit harshly and got up. Gingerkit fell on her back, winded as she slowly got up. "Cool!" She grunted with happiness. "You're getting better!" Rainkit knew her sister was just letting her test her own skills. Gingerkit can fight much better than me no matter what, she just feels bad I can't beat her. She bitterly thought, growling. Gingerkit smiled. "Now, I'm going to try this time!"
Sure you will. You'll just let me win again. Rainkit grunted. "Okay."
Gingerkit purred and leaped up, going over Rainkit. Wha? Gingerkit landed gracefully behind her, whipping around and biting her sisters tail softly. Rainkit whirled around, making Gingerkit yelp. "Hey!" She giggled, muffled. Rainkit couldn't help but smile. "Now it's my turn." You're going down, sis. After a long day of training and getting ready for the real day of apprenticeship, both kits were panting. "You did well." Gingerkit purred between pants. Rainkit smiled. You too. She thought. "I can't believe you taught me how to pin someone! You seem so skilled, and.."
Gingerkit purred, smiling. "No problem, sister."
She padded away with Rainkit at her heels to the nursery, the sunset beginning to go down as the daylight disappeared. Both kits yawned as they settled in their nest, curling up together and sharing warmth. Their mother entered the nursery. "Sorry sweeties, I was needed." She sat next to her kits, nuzzling both. "Sweet dreams, don't let the dog bite."(Sorry for small chapter! Getting back into watt-pad story making. <3)
(Here's a cute drawing I made for the last scenario! Sorry for the random markings, I use this notebook quite a lot.)
