The Date?

Lucan drove Dustin and i back to our houses. I said goodbye and headed inside. I immediately went to my apartment room and flopped onto my bed. Jeez. What was that? immediately, the red head popped into my head. my face went hot and I groaned. she didn't even mention her name! nor did I, so it's a win win. but then I remembered. we exchanged numbers. i go through my contacts until I find her number. I look at it for an awkward amount of time. it's too soon to call. it's been not even an hour. so I decided I would call the next day.

i woke up, with the sun shining in my face. i cringed and rolled over. I checked my phone. it's 8:00. i had a thought. maybe I could ask red head to breakfast? or maybe she already had it... well, there's only one way to find out. i found her number and my thumb hovered over the call button. i bit my lip and thought. I hit it. i hit the speaker button and threw my phone across my bed. i stared at it while it rang. it stopped. "hello?"

i hesitated to speak but eventually came up with something.
"uhm, hi. is this, the, uhm... uh..."
"it's max."
"max! max. yeah, sorry, we didn't properly introduce ourselves yesterday."
she giggled.
"damn, i forgot about that. what's your name again?"
"it's uh, mike."
"hey mike. so what's up?"
"i just woke up. what about you?"
she yawned.
"oh, I just got back from the gym. I woke up at 7 this morning."
my cheeks grew hot.
"y-you work out?"
"yeah."
i shook my head to wake up a little.
"anyways, I had a q-question for you."
"ask away."
"so, uhm, i was wondering if you would like to go to breakfast with me?"
there was silence.
"only if you want to of course. I mean, you did wake up early this morning and had to go work ou- I mean go to the gym, s-so you probably ate-"
"sure."
my eyes grew wide.
"really?"
"yeah, sure. why not. sounds fun."
i cleared my throat.
"o-okay. uhm, is 8:45 okay? I don't know how long it takes for a girl to get ready but-"
"that's perfect. my address is 27 Termer drive. where do you wanna go?"
"uhm, Feast Break? people say it's really good."
"yeah, sounds awesome! can you come pick me up though? my step brother dropped one of his weights on my skate board so I can't do that."
i nod, knowing that she can't see me.
"okay. no problem."
"oh, and also, park across the road of my house. my step brother will freak out if he finds out im hanging around a guy."
"o-okay. I can do that."
"alright. thank you. bye mike." she hung up.

i turn off my phone and look in the distance. did I just- my phone rang again. i flinched and checked to see who it was. it was lucas. of course.
"hey lucas."
"hey dude. wanna come over and play Atari?"
i blush.
"uh, sorry man. I can't today I have, uhm... plans."
"yeah, bullshit. is your nana sick again?"
i sigh.
"no dipshit. im going out with a friend is all."
lucas gasps.
"don't tell me it's the red head girl."
i say nothing.
"it's the red head girl."
"wow, big deal lucas, okay can I go now?"
"wow you're a whole new man. picking up cute chicks."
i roll my eyes.
"no. im leaving. goodbye."
"HAVE A GOOD DAT-"
i hung up before he could say anything else.

i get ready and by the time I'm done it's 830. i left the building and headed to the parking lot. I drove to the address she gave me and parked across the street from her house.
i waited until i saw her running across the street to my car.
she wore a yellow dress that had lemons on it. she put up a messy bun and converse sneakers with them.
"hey. thanks for doing that. it helps alot."
i nod.
"no problem."

we head over to the restaurant and get our table. it was a booth and beside a window.
"wow this place is nice."
"yeah it is."
I don't realize that I was staring at her when I said that until she blushed bright pink and smiled. I did the same.
the waitress comes over and asks us what we want for a starter drink.
i really wanted the jolly rancher slushie, and she was looking at it too. but it was 12$! she looked at me. I looked at her.
"we'll get the jolly rancher slushie... with two straws." she added a wink.

i blushed (again) trying not to smile.
it was awkward for a bit.
"so, what's with this thing and your brother? is he over protective?"
she shakes her head.
"step brother. his names billy. and, he doesn't want to be protective. but since we're "family" now, he has no choice." I nod.
"that sounds rough."
"it is."
silence again.
"so what's your life like, mike?"
i bite my lip.
"well, not so exciting. I've got a bitchy older sister. a cute little sister. and, well, I had a girlfriend."
she looked intrested.
"i hope you don't mind me asking, but what happened?"
"not at all. well, she and I met when she was stranded in a forest. my friends and I found her. it was... quite a sight. and, this might sound crazy, but she had some sort of telekinesis powers."
her face went pale.
"you okay?"
she looks down.
"mike, your ex girlfriend was my childhood bestfriend. we drifted apart after she moved."

my jaw drops.
"that's where I know you from. mad max."
she looks back up at me.
"oh my god. mike..."
we look at eachother. we burst into laughter. people look and we stop.
"holy shit! I can't believe it's you!" max almost screams.
"it's been so long," I said.
"it felt like ages."
she nodded.
"yeah. el was... everything. im so sorry you lost her."
i shrugged.
"she went her way, I went my way."
max put her hand on top of mine, holding it.
"im here for you mike." I put my other hand on top of hers.
"me too."

the waitress cane over with our drink, and we ordered our food. we both took a sip. and another. annnnd another.
"how does my backwash taste mike?"
i almost choked on the drink as she laughed.
over the morning, I got to know more about her, and she got to know more about me. friends, (who I obviously knew) family, intrests, stuff like that. we finished our meal and i paid. i drove her home and I walked her to her door.

"thank god billy isn't here. he would crush you. then me."
I laugh.
she looks in my eyes.
"thanks for meeting up with me, mike. we should see eachother again. I had fun."
i smiled.
"maybe you can come with me sometimes when I go to the gym in the mornings, if you can get up that early."
she giggled.
i blushed.
she tilted her head.
"you blush alot."
i grinned.
"you notice."
she licks her lips and smiles.
she kisses me on the cheek.
"thank you, mike." she walks inside and my eyes follow her, until she dissapears.

THAT WAS LONG SORRY AND ALSO SORRY I WAS GONE FOR SO LONG SCHOOL IS STRESSFUL, IT'S 12 AM AND I NEED TO DO A TEST I DIDN'T STUDY FOR TOMORROW UGHHH
