I was walking home from school, thinking about the day. I learned some valuable stuff in science, stuff I could use to study octolings. When I wandered into octo-valley, somewhere I was not supposed to be. I had heard about the fight against the octolings, but I don't understand why they were so bad. So while I was watching the octolings, when I was surprised by a figure in the shadows. I jumped up and dropped my notepad I had taken out, which the figure picked up and returned. I looked at the notepad and then at the figure, "T-Thanks..." I told the figure in a scared tone. The figure just smiled and stepped out of the shadows, it was an octoling. I quickly took the notebook and looked at the octoling. "Um... where's your octoshot?" I asked, looking for some weapons on it. "I don't have one, I don't believe in fighting." The octoling said, it had a girl's voice. "My name's Luke." I told the octoling, something about her told me that she didn't, and probably never will, mean no harm. "You can call me Taylor." She said, with a big smile plastered on her face. I had to be home in a bit, or my parents would be worried, but I wanted to ask a few questions to this girl. "Why do you think the inklings hate octolings?" I asked, ready to write the answer down. She stared off into space for a moment then looked back at me, "I don't know." I put the notepad away and stared at her, I know staring is rude, but I wanted to study her. "What are you doing?" She asked, she noticed I was staring. I looked away quickly, blushing because maybe she thought I was doing something else. "Just... studying." I said as I looked back at her. She looked around then looked at my bag, "That's a cool backpack." I was proud of it, it was ink stained, but it wasn't broken yet. "Thanks." I answered, smiling because of the compliment, "I've never seen an octoling this nice to me." She giggled, "I've never seen an inkling this nice to me." I looked at her and smiled. My phone beeped and I looked at it, it was a text from my mom. She said there was a surprise at home, and she knows surprises are my weakness. I looked back at Taylor, "Well I have to go." She nodded and waved, "Nice meeting you!" I waved back, "You too!" Then I ran off, all the way home.
