Genre: Mystery
She opened her bright blue eyes and blinked away the tears that formed straight away from the massive amount of light that poured into her vision. It hurt but it was also the most beautiful thing she had ever witnessed in her life for a long time. A smile crept on her face as she first tried to wiggle her toes and fingers.
They all worked and there was no pain.
As she was on her back, she tried her legs first. Bending one knee carefully and then the next. there was still no pain and nothing restricting her movements. The smile on her face grew even bigger but she refused to move her head in any way and thus kept staring up into the sky as the sun gently seemed to kiss her face.
Her arms were next. first the hands, wrists followed by her elbows and shoulders. Everything moved the way it should and it had never felt any better. She was truly free and that knowledge became more and more real than a long-lived fantasy of hers. She was free, she could move, she was outside.
She blinked a couple more tears away as everything that had transpired seemed to come back to her. It hadn't gone according to plan. Nothing ever did for her but she was out so that had to count for something. Did she even had a plan she wondered as she wiggled her hips, still without pain.
A gentle breeze caressed her pale skin. Goosebumps started to cover her from head to toe and she couldn't help but giggle as the strange feeling of it. It had been so long since she had felt so free. So long since she had actually been free. So long since she had been outside. So long since she had seen a cloud and the sun.
The cloud drifted by and she stared at it in awe, still not wanting to move her head or attempt to get up. The cloud looked like a rabbit she thought. A rabbit playing in the grass.
Grass...
Her fingers curled themselves, touching the ground she was on. The feeling of the grass underneath her hands, the soft blade of green tickling the palm of her hands. Wait, was it green? And what did green actually look like? She would have to turn her head to see it, she realized, but the sky was so gentle and calming. It soothed her, warmth her till her bones and having to move her head would feel like she would lose all of that.
What was her plan again?
To escape. But to escape she had to move and her mind refused to. Her body worked though, she had tested it and it did so without any pain. But she had already moved and had already escaped so why move again? Why not stay here forever and stare at the sky with the soft breeze that made her feel alive?
Nothing went as planned. Not with her, she thought as she calmly closed her eyes.
