When we got to the lawyers I asked to book an appointment. The woman just looked sorry for us. "I too got the letter. I will only be too happy to book you an appointment." She told us. "Sooner would be better." Penny said and so the woman booked us a court for Wednesday. In two days' time.

When I turned to leave I saw John. He looked at me and then looked down. "May I speak to you Elizabeth?" He asked, I nodded and he led me away. "I-"he trailed off and looked embarrassed. "I like you and I was wondering if... If you could ever like me back." I stared at him in shock for a moment. "Umm...." I said clumsily. "Err yea... I guess so." I was just so shocked that anyone would have feelings for me. ME! Like... What??? "So are we..." he asked awkwardly without saying the word. "Yeah ok." I replied and both blushing we left.

I walked back to Penny and told her what he had said. "He said WHAT?!" She yelled, "And now you guys are dating! Aww..." I thought it was one of the weirdest moments of my life. But it was about to get weirder.

When I got home that night mother was sitting at her sewing machine. She barely glanced up when I came in but she told me to be ready to be measured. "Measured for what Mama?" I asked curiously. She grinned at me "Everyone wants our town back so the entire town has given us something that I can use to make your dress." She told me looking up from where she was sitting.

I told mother about John and how he asked me out. She said it was cute and asked me if he will help me argue my case at court. I paused, "I don't know Mama... I haven't asked him yet." She nodded at me with a thoughtful expression. "I shall put him to the test." I said and she smiled at me. "Yes, you shall." She told me and grabbed a measuring tape. "Now hold still."

I woke up on Wednesday morning and jumped out of bed feeling the nerves inside me. Mother had made pancakes and they were sitting on the table. "Eat." She said pointing at the food. "I will help you get dressed later."

Almost an hour later I was wearing my dress, had my hair in a bun and was wearing makeup. I looked pretty. I tied a red ribbon around the bun in my hair to make me feel more comfortable. I always wore a red ribbon in my hair and without it I felt like I didn't know who the girl in the mirror is. The girl in the mirror looked pretty and formal while I always wore plain, casual clothes. The red ribbon just helped me remember that it was me.

I heard a knock on the door and I quickly slipped on my white shoes before going to the door to open it. It wasn't Penny like I had expected, it was John. "I'm sorry but I can't come today." He told me with a panicked expression. "My Mama is in the doctors and she needs caring for. I must go there can you please tell Elizabeth?!" I laughed at him because he really didn't know who I am. "I am Elizabeth." I told him and he went white. "I'm so sorry!" He cried, "I'm just not used to you looking so beautiful!" I laughed again and told him it was ok before he rushed off to his mother.

Soon there came another knock on the door and Penny was standing there. She looked beautiful but very different to me. I went with the formal but beautiful look. And she decided to look beautiful without the formal. Her hair was undone and loosely brushed out into waves. She was wearing a pink fading to purple dress, she had on fancy boots. And she wasn't wearing make-up. When she saw me she fainted. She just collapsed. I caught her and carried (half dragged) her inside.

Mother saw us and gently took Penny out of my arms. She dashed around the house grinding herbs and mixing spices. Soon she had a smooth, thick, green coloured mixture in a bowl and told me to feed it to her slowly. I did, slowly coaxing the spoon into her mouth and for her to swallow. She soon sat up and looked around. Then she saw me smiling at her, "I'm sorry I must have fainted on you! You look stunning Liz!" She cried and reached out to grab the bowl. "Here eat it." I thrust the concoction away from me.

When she was healthy enough Penny got up and did laps of my house to pass the time until it was time for us to go. When it was time I kissed mother on the cheek and started walking. Not a second later a limo pulled up. A woman leaned out and I vaguely recognized her from the town. "Get in!" She told us and Penny and I gasped in surprise. No... Way....
