Going into my Senior year of high school wasn't that exciting. Over the summer I spent a lot of time alone. I was invited to go out with classmates and have fun don't get me wrong, but I always declined. Eventually they just stopped inviting me. Which is understandable because I'm a bit of a buzzkill anyways.
I did have one friend though, Elliot. Elliot was a lot different from me, he was outgoing, popular and really handsome, with light blond hair and ice blue eyes. He had broad shoulders and was freakishly tall, Almost 6'3. Seriously, what did his mother feed him?
"I'm going to a party tonight." He told me, getting ready. "Do you want to come?"
"No, I'm good. Party's aren't really my scene." I respond. "Besides, remember what happened last time I went to a party?"
"Oh, that was only one time! You know Ellis didn't mean to spill beer all over your clothes." He said giggling.
"Yeah, well that was my favorite shirt! And my most expensive one." I responded furrowing my eyebrows.
"THAT was your most expensive shirt?" He asks suspiciously.
"Yeah, it was. That's the shirt I wore for my 8th grade graduation."
I say. Elliot had finished putting on his shoes and his football varsity jacket. He loved that jacket more than anything. He bought it freshman year, I even caught him polishing the purple leather sleeves in his room a few times.
"Cool right?" He says showing off his party outfit. He was wearing new, off white adidas shoes, a white T-shirt, his varsity jacket, and black jeans. A pretty normal looking outfit if you ask me.
        "Sure." I respond.
Elliot turns to me, "Aw come on August, come just this once?" He asks pouting.
"Every Senior is gonna be there. You don't want to be the only one." He says. I don't want to go, I really don't. But I do.
"Fine! I'll go." I say, giving in. "This is the last time."
Elliot shines me a big toothy grin. He puts his hand on my head and shakes my hair.
"I'll give you one of my shirts to wear." Elliot says, offering me a grey sweater.
"Thanks, I'll go put it on." I say walking into his washroom. Before closing the door I open it again and say, what if Ellis spills a drink on me again?" I ask.
Elliot laughs, then pushes me inside the washroom. As I'm getting changed, I hear a loud, flirty voice coming from downstairs. I immediately know who it is.

That loud, flirty, feminine voice belongs to Ellis Hitcher. She and Elliot started dating in sophomore year. We've been in the same class together since 3rd grade.
Elliot didn't start to like her until she began to wear makeup and flashy clothes in freshman year. Ellis is really pretty, I'll give her that, as well as friendly. With dirty blond hair and brown eyes. However, she's as dumb as a rock. I used to help her study so she would pass 11th grade.

"Elliot? Hurry up, I don't want to be late!" Ellis said.
   "Coming!" Elliot responded. "One minute!"
Just then I heard a knock on the bathroom door.
"August hurry up! Ellis is going to give us a ride." I quickly finish getting ready and step out of the bathroom. I headed downstairs to see Ellis and Elliot waiting for me on the driveway.
"Hey August, Looking sharp!" Ellis says poking my shoulder.
"Very funny Ellis" I respond, pulling her hand away. "Try not to spill any beer on me this time okay?"
"I can't promise you that!" Ellis said hopping into the driver's seat of her bright blue Jeep. Me and Elliot follow, Elliot in the passenger seat and me in the back.
We drove as Ellis started playing her obnoxiously loud music for the whole town to hear.
After being in the car for about 10 minutes, Ellis pulled up to a large house. By then it was already dark out and I was considering just walking home. My house was in the same neighbourhood afterall. As I was just about to sneak away Elliot grabbed me by the collar and dragged me in.
The house reeked of smoke and alcohol, with someone already passed out by my feet. The colourful lights were blinding and it was hard to hear anything with all the cheering and screaming. Elliot turned to me and yelled,
"I'll stick by you the whole night Okay?"
"Sure." I responded, not believing a word he said. I ended up being right, because 5 minutes after he said that he was already getting drunk at the beer pong table. Ellis was nowhere to be found either, she had just entered a beer chugging contest in the kitchen.
"I should just leave" I say to myself. I make my way through the busy and claustrophobic house. When I get to the large living room I stop to take a breather, I never knew how hard it was to break through crowds of people until now.
As I stop to lean against the wall. As I look at the crowds of people laughing, dancing and getting drunk in front of me. When I see a girl with jet black hair and light brown eyes, standing in front of me. She was one of the most good looking people I've ever seen in my life.

"Um, can I help you?" I ask her. Her eyes staring into me like daggers. She points at my feet on the ground without breaking eye contact.
"Your foot, you could trip somebody." She says, I look at my feet, and it is indeed, resting on the floor a bit too far in front of me.
"Oh, uh, sure. Sorry" I say, pulling my foot inwards.
"It's not a problem." She responds, giving me a half smile.
She then gives me one last look before walking out the door.
I was dumbfounded, and my head was spinning. I'd never had a conversation with anyone at a party, yet this girl was criticizing the fact that I put my foot too far in front of me. Did that really just happen? Strange.
