As I sat in the gym bleachers, I stared intently at the boy two rows infront of me.
Ashton Irwin was a nerd, cute, but dorky. Rumors say he was almost never in school because he already started college classes.
I watched as he adjusted his glasses and drummed a beat on his thigh silently.
I had been infatuated with Ashton for about a year and a half. He seemed like he had a secret. He always wore a sweater, no matter the weather. He had an Australian accent, strange to us in Britain. I always tried to make friends with him but he completely blew me off.
"What are you staring at, Sidney?" Max Low said.
I cringed at the use of the name Sidney. That wasn't my name, my name is Sid, but my dad has it Sidney on school papers.
"Nothing," I said all to quickly, " just that shirt pattern." I said pointing to the girl next to Ashton.
As I let the assembly go on.

When the assembly was over I made my weekly attempt to approach Ashton.
"Hey Ashton, Whatcha up to tonight?" I asked, as I played with my sleeves trying to calm my nerves.
"I have plans." He said bluntly before walking away and I stood there, rejected, again.
