Stargazing - Joe and Dianne One shot series

Things are looking up

"Caspar you ready?" Off we go a boys trip. Since strictly all the boys had gone and got themselves girlfriends. My sister had a little girl called Maddie and I was still living in the same London apartment, single. You'd think in these two years since strictly I would have found someone but really there has always only ever been one person I wanted and I can't seem to get that out of me head. But I hadn't seen her since February 2019 last I heard was she had moved back to Australia to help her mum look after her dad.

"Oi Joe do you recon you could get a girl in oz while we are there?" Jack shouted as we left Connors to go to Heathrow, we were going to Perth for 2 weeks. "Nah I think I'm just destined to be single" I laughed as I said it fully knowing that I couldn't get over the red-headed girl, I once called my dance partner.

We boarded the plane and took off on our tedious 17 hour flight to Perth. Why didn't we just go somewhere closer that didn't have the one person I wanted to be with a matter of a few hours from where I was staying.

"Come on Joe come to the beach with us don't be boring" oli shouted through the villa we were staying in. "Fine let me just get changed" we got to the villa about an hour and a half ago and I had posted on my story where we were. As I was getting ready my phone screen lit up with a notification on Instagram, which was weird because most of my notifications are switched off and anyone who isn't would just text me surely.  I opened the app to see a message off the one person who I was secretly hoping would see it Dianne.

G'day never thought I'd see the day you'd be in my Homeland. I'm in Perth this week fancy meeting up in the need for a catch up x

Oh god if I met up with her what could I say. Oh what have I been up to good question moping over the fact I never told you I liked you more than a friend. No Joe you've been given the opportunity to meet up with the girl you haven't stopped thinking about for 2 years take the opportunity.

"You look chirpier than you did earlier" Caspar said as I joined the boys on the path down to the beach, "yeah I think my luck is starting to set in".....

Hi Joe it's di where do you fancy meeting? I know a cute little restaurant by the beach. We could always go for a walk on the beach after as well! Xx

I had got this text earlier and we had agreed for 6:30 at this restaurant. It was now 6:10 and we were staying about a 15 minute walk from where we we meeting. "Right lads I'm off I will give you a text when I'm on my way back" I shouted as I left the villa.

"Hey you" Dianne said as she saw me walk towards the restaurant "hey how have you been?" I said as I pulled her into a hug. We are just friends Joe you need to keep telling yourself that. "I've been alright I mean I'm more single than ever especially since Andrew and Mel are getting married I feel like the 3rd wheel constantly. What about you? Any look on the dating scene?" F*ck what was I meant to say I couldn't just turn around and say that I couldn't face dating because I liked her. "Umm well yeah no not really still single af. Zoe and Alfie have a little girl called Maddie and I'm pretty sure my mum just wants me to find someone and settle down. But nobody seems to compare" sh*t what have I done. "Compare to who Joe?" Well I did put myself in this position didn't I. "Promise you won't freak...." I paused waiting for a response from her "I won't" oh god here we go "you.....di i can't get you out of my head and I haven't done since probably movie week back in October 2019. I could just tell you were the one and I never had the guts to say anything and then when I did you had come back here and we had lost touch". Well there we go I've said it and she hasn't ran a mile. Yet.

We talked, a lot, while we ate and let's say we both realized that neither of us had been able to 'move on' as such even though we hadn't ever admitted our feelings for each other. Dianne was moving back to the UK for the next series and was leaving the week after we did. We have decided to spend some time with each other over the next week or so and see how it goes.

"Joe can we go for a walk along the beach?" I heard Dianne say this as we left the restaurant. I never actually replied I just walked hand in hand with her towards the beach. It was quite breezy but still warm so we took off our shoes and walked along the beach Every so often walking in the sea. As the sun began to set in the distance I turned Dianne around to face me. "Do you understand how much I've wanted to this ever since probably week 2". I closed the gap between our lips. It was soft yet passionate. "Your not the only one suggy"
