"Okay let's get out of here," Kathy suggested we all agreed, but just as we were about to leave Kayla fell, she tried to get back to her feet but something tugged at her ankle.
I looked down to see what it was, a hand! It was a hand, the other kids were already gone running away. A head and another hand emerged from the ground. The zombie snapping at Kayla's foot.
"Help!" she screamed, "Help!"
My other friends stared in horror, The zombies eyes darted between all of my friends, getting ready for it's next meal as it was digging itself out of the ground.
I sprinted forward sweat dripping off my head. I grabbed Kayla's hand and began kicking at the zombie, but it wouldn't budge. Then it started moving back into the ground as Kayla disappeared. I stared at the hole thinking it could bring her back somehow.
Meagan shook me out of my trance. I slowly stood and started moving as Meagan pushed me from my back, urging me onwards as another zombie emerged from the ground. My heart was pounding, my mind racing with questions I almost ran over Natalie.
"Watch out!" she hissed crouching, signalling my other friends to do the same.
"Sorry," I mumbled looking up I noticed a dog. My friends went silent as it howled. I ducked looking to the side seeing a silhouette of the beast. As it rapidly grew in size. The once shaggy pelt looking like thin fur, it's canines growing, claws extending.
Natalie started to shuffle stepping on a twig. The now werewolf perked it's ears at the sound, heading our way.
"Run," Natalie yelled "I'll lead it away!" she threw a rock at it and ran. The wolf got on all four paws and chased after her. My friends and I sprinted heading for Meagan's house, the wolf's pounding paws echoing off the pavement.
"I thought hockey mask Bob only sent his minions after the person who stole the candy," Kathy panted glaring at me. I hunched over gulping air back into my lungs.
"I thought it was just a stupid child's story! So that parents didn't have their kids get too much candy or just didn't trick or treat!" Meagan said. The rest of my friends nodded as well as me.
"Let's just get to your house," I said nodding my head in Meagan's direction, my breath finally turning back to a slow steady pace.
