The Dark Side

Chapter one

I woke at 1:00 pm in my one room house. I know that's late but hey it doesn't matter. I don't make the best income a dollar a week it's not much but it's enough for what I have. I have an okay job as a bar maid at night And during day I'm living my passion for science. I work with my real good friend mark we're both chemists. Well he is and I'm learning.

I get out of my bed and get into my outfit for the day and head out to we're mark and I study sciences once I get there I'm greeted by a familiar back "Mark I'm back." I get his attention he turns huge metal glasses on his face "what are you wearing you look ludicrous" I say walking closer "New invention" he says "oh tell me more" I say sarcastically "oh well you see these glasses are to give anyone 20/20 vision even if you do you everything will be even more amplified maybe even 40/40. Right now though I'm working on the rims the glass it's self I still have to work on." He looks to me board out of my mind. "Oh that was sarcasm." "Yes Mark now tell me what we're working on that's realities to our study's." I ask walking to our chemistry section of the "lab" (abounded building) "well I have working on this."

He walks over and picks up a beaker with pink liquid in it."What does it do" I ask "it helps people on a Coughing fit you could just drink this and boom after a few minutes you stop." He says I just stare at him. " THATS FREAKING AMAZING HOW DID YOU MAKE IT" I ask and he smiled at me "Well you see I got a sick animal and took a saliva samples and I took some of it mixed it with a few things and I then tested it on the animal itself and boom they stopped coughing." He said gesturing with his hands at the end "Well fantastic experiment being animals have to same cells as humans very clever Mark" I say and pat his shoulder "so what's nexts" I ask him

"liquid courage."

He says with a smirk "I'm sorry what." I ask "we'll you see if you heat alcohol at a very alarming rate add carbon crystals till they dissolve and boom" he gestured to a dark brown liquid "it just needs one more thing" he says. He grabbed a really sharp sewing needle and pricked his finger. He winced and so did I. The red liquid dripped it into the beaker. " done" he picked up the beaker and swished it around. "Liquid courage" he says he goes to take a sip

" MARK WHAT ARE YOU DOING" I grab it from him " testing it" "Mark I know your a great chemist but I don't trust the chemicals carbon and alcohol may be deadly we have to test it." I tell him. I look to the time I start my shifter 3:00 and it's 2:50 " look I have to get to work I'll see you tomorrow and please don't drink that" I ask leaving.

I started my way to work. I work at a family owned inn. I'm not part of the family but I'm good friends with Jack the bar keep. We have been friends are whole childhood and scored me with this job.

"Hello Y/n" I turn to see the voice was from officer Ethan accompanied by officer Tyler. "Hello officers" I say walking past. I know the officers well because Mark usually gets himself in trouble every once in a while blowing something up. Let's just say they stop by often.

I walk into the inn branded by the name Mclough inn. I walk in to see the brown haired male known as Jack "hello Y/n how's your day been?" He asked while cleaning the counter "fine it's just marks been acting weird today" I say looking at the floor "He's always weird." He asked with a question on his face. "More then normal." "Worse then-" "yes worse then the cat incident" I cut him off. "Geez that sounds bad" He says concerned "well it's over now and work is a thing go ahead and open up the place."

It was the usual day. Daniel walked in with his friend Phil. Daniel almost everyday would promise to only have a pint or two which lead five and Phil would have to drag him out as dan would occasionally flirt with him as they left. Officer Tyler would come in every know and again to complain about his job while Ethan joined and me and him would catch up while I was working. But besides that everything was like a normal inn. Travelers staying the night and leaving in the morning. occasionally needing to fix things leaving me with the bar. Men cat calling me. Luckily Jack would have my back. It turns to 11:00 I decided to head out. "I'm out for the night you know where I live so wake me up if you need" I say saying my goodbye's for the night. Jack nodded with a smile and I walked out of there returning to my home

Time skip

Marks POV

I was on a fence. Listen to Y/n and not drink the substance for her to gain my trust. Or drink this odd substance and get courage to tell y/n how I actually feel. I've know y/n what seems like my whole life and I have always like her more then friends. I don't know how to tell her since I'm not cool or suave and I just kinda want to show her that I'm not just a nerd. I walk over to the newly made elixir.

I grab it and examine it one more time. I take a quick breath and lift the beaker to my lips. The taste of blood entering his mouth. I brace myself for something but nothing happened like at all.

Then a surge of pain begins at my head. It's moves down too my eyes, neck chest, arms finger tips, knees, and ankles. I'm on the floor gripping my head for dear life. I scream in pain.

But it all of a sudden stops look up to see a man almost identical to me except his skin was pale and he was wearing a gray suit holding a grey cane. "What in the world?" I ask I see him examine his hands with a smirk. He turns too walk out. I go in front of him. "Who the hell are you?" I ask he gives a sinister chuckle "lets just say the part of your mind you don't want the world to see." He then walks right through me. And out to the door. I fallow him out. As we are outside I see girl with black hair and smile at my lookalike "hello mark" she says with a smile "it's Damian my dear or Dark" my lookalike said she gave a confused look as she walked past.
