BILLIE

it was a cold gray day in late november. the weather has changed overnight, when a backing wind brought a granite sky and a mizzling rain with it, and although it was a little after four o'clock in the afternoon, the pallor of a winter evening seemed to have closed its way on the hills of my home, los angeles.

it was usually bright and sunny, the streets filled with people with happy, smiling, laughing faces. but today was gloomy and dark. the streets had a single car passing by every minute.

the cold air hit my face as i continued to walk home. i decided today that i wanted to walk back home instead of take the bus.

i hadn't save up enough money to buy a car just yet. my brother, sam, is supposed to help me but he's always spending it on plane tickets to go to haunted places. he's reckless.

when i reaches the large gate that sat in front of my house, i punched the pin in, the large gates opening in front of me.

my brother samuel was youtube famous. i always stayed out of his hair since he didn't like me getting in his shot.

if i'm being honest, i never liked being recorded. i'm camera shy. but i do enjoy going to haunted or abandoned places, just like him and his friends.

i let out a breathy sigh as i closed the large door behind me. i lived in a house with sam and his friends. colby, jake, corey, devyn, and aaron. elton had moved out a while ago. we had our far share of memories, we were never close, though.

i kicked off my shoes and jacket. i hanged my jack on the coat hanger and walked through the dirty hallway. shoes and pizza boxes laid across the tile.

i heard yelling and laughing coming from the living room. my feet guided me toward the kitchen. i opened the large fridge and grabbed a bottle of water, taking a sip.

"hey, you're home." a familiar voice cheered.

i closed the fridge and cams face to face with one of my good friends, katrina.

"yeah, long day at work." i sighed, placing the water bottle on the counter.

"money is money." she chuckled.

"yeah, i guess." i smiled.

"so, i need some help with a video idea. i've been brain dead lately."

"i'm not the person you should be asking. go ask sam or colby or even jake."

"they're all a bunch of dorks. plus, have you seen jakes' recent video? hell no."

"fine. but i tried to warn you." i chuckled.

"okay, you gotta have some idea of a video. at least better than the ideas i came up with."

"what were your ideas?"

"no, no, no, no. i'm to embarrassed to share."

"alright, well," i paused, actually trying to think of a idea for a video.

"what about a skit or challenge?" i suggested.

"i think a challenge might be good, i just don't know what challenge to do." katrina sighed.

"make one up. it can't be too difficult. it could be anything." i shrugged.

"oh yeah? like what?"

"like," i paused, pursing my lips, "how much can you eat in a second challenge? i don't know. copy mr beast, he's getting all the views now."

katrina laughed, her voice booming throughout the whole kitchen. a smile fought its way onto my face.

"i'm not gonna lie, that idea isn't half bad. i want you to be in my video."

my head snapped toward her. did she just say what i think she said?

"what? no! i couldn't be in a video!"

"why not?"

i opened my mouth to say something but was stopped when the front door bursted open. the house fell silent as we all listened to hear who was there.

shortly after, laughter and whispers came from the hallway. footsteps started to approach.

i peaked out into the hallway to see the power couple, colby and his girlfriend, amelia foxx.
