It's fine.
Even though Donghyuck feels like he was let down, it's fine. It's great that Mark and he went through the whole camboy thing together and still successfully saved their friendship. But it's already half of the summer that Mark has threw out of the window and they are still stuck in this nameless relationship that they sure did move on from but still can't reach the status that the guy wants. He is tired of all the lovey dovey act from his friends that are happened to be couples!
At this point, Mark could confess to him when he has greasy hair with dirty boxers on with a box of half-eaten chocolates and he will still be more than happy to say yes to him. Well, it will not be a beautiful story to tell their children in the future but still, they're at risk of still being friends at that time if Mark won't do anything soon in the near future.
It's not fine.
"You're being dramatic", Jeno sheirks, "I know my brother is a lil dense but he will do it sooner or later, just be patient. A sis is being desperate and that sis is you, Hyuck"
Donghyuck whines and wiggles unsatisfyingly on the couch. He has been bothering the eye smile guy since the morning and Renjun was not home so he sees no point in going home and face the older's annoying face.
"you don't understand though. You and Injun confessed almost immediately when you two realized that there are feelings between. And it's been a goddamn year since me and Mark knew that I don't want to put out shameless flirt anymore. Mark took me out for hangouts, I even met his other friends every weekend and ba da bing ba da boom, he still introduced me as his fucking flatmate since", the guy flopped down like a deflated balloon, "I'm just worried that we don't get together soon and don't have a validated bond, he or I might...you know,....going back to be Je's brother and Je's best friend"
"...I really love Mark, I don't want that"
Jeno knows Donghyuck sometimes overthinks a lot of problems due to his background but this time, he felt like the younger is actually terrified. As Mark's sibling, he knows this is just how Mark is: wants to take everything in an even pace, making everybody else in his life used to Donghyuck's presence so when he actually pressed the button and make Donghyuck his boyfriend, it's not too much of a shock for people around them. Contradicting enough, Donghyuck is too eager, too desperate to push everything forward. It's not a bad thing but because of the difference in two minds is making their relationship tangled. And scarily, might create bents for them.
He pats the younger's back and says, "I'm sure Mark loves you a whole lot as well. He always talks about you when we go back to mum and dad's house so what you need to do is not take things too seriously, alright?"
Donghyuck jutted his bottom lip out and nodded. He is really a kid sometimes.
"Do you think I should confess first though?", he asked, "Lele told me about it the other day. I have been thinking and...."
"No, no, no, no!", Jeno cuts him off, "You don't need to do that. I mean the whole top and bottom is really nothing and you can totally do so but um...just don't."
The other furrowed his eyebrows, "Then why are you stopping me though?"
The guy scratched the back of his head and tried to find a decent reason that would not end up with hi, being scolded by Mark and finally stuttered, "Well, my brother's ego. You know he takes pride in such things"
"You're weird", Donghyuck groans, "Oh fuck that, Mark is even weirder"
Donghyuck went home. As much as he wants to laze around a bit more in Jeno's apartment, he could not be that rude so he decided to go back to their home. He kicked off his shoes and realized that Mark's not home yet.
"He doesn't have work at the church today though?", he asked himself but brushed it off after a few moments. Why does he need to care? The older's life does not spin around him.
He threw his wallet on the kitchen counter and realized that there is a sticky note on the fridge door that he remembered not being there when he left.
"Hey Donghyuck, you weren't home when I came back from work so I can't tell this to you face to face. But can you catch a taxi and go to school or me.-Mark"
"Is he out of his mind? Why are we suddenly going to school in the middle of summer?", Donghyuck scrunched his nose and takes his phone out to dial the older.
No answer.
"This better be something important or I'm kicking his ass"
