Chapter 7

Green Shadow started crying as she hugged him tightly.

"I thought you were dead!"

Grass Knuckles hugged Green Shadow as she cried.

"I'm here. It's ok." He softly said, patting her back.

The two plants stayed like that for a while before they broke off the hug.

"So what happened?" Green Shadow asked as she sat on a small stool.

"It was a blur. One moment I'm looking at you, and then I'm in a desert. It felt like I had been bashed against a rock." Grass Knuckles sighed and leaned against the wall.

"Let's go back to Crazy Dave. I'm sure he's wondering where we are."

Grass Knuckles nodded and the two left the small shed, walking down the path to Penny.

But when they got there. Crazy Dave was gone. Penny was gone. And all that was left was a note.

"Want the car and Crazy Dave back? Come to the Blazing Bull at sundown. From, The Zombies."

Green Shadow clenched her fists. Tears started to fall as she crumpled up the note and threw it.

"Hey, hey. We're gonna get them back. We just need a plan."

"But it's just the two of us! How are we going to get them back?" Green Shadow sobbed out.

Grass Knuckles took her hand and smiled.

"We're a team. We'll find a way."

Crazy Dave was thrown into a back room with his hands tied behind his back.

"Once Green Shadow and whoever's with her come, we'll ambush them." Super Brainz said.

("You'll never get away with this! Shadow will come and find me!")

Impfinity quickly gagged Crazy Dave.

"You talk to much Pot-head." Impfinity sneered.

The Smash laughed before shoving Crazy Dave into a closet.

"When the sun sets, bring him out again." Super Brainz said as the door to the closet closed.

The sun was slowly making it's descent as Grass Knuckles and Green Shadow stayed in the shed

"The sun's going to set soon. We can't just stay here." Green Shadow sighed.

"But we don't know how many zombies are here. The whole team could be here, or just one." Grass Knuckles said.

Green Shadow took his hand.

"Then let's find out."

"Find out? But what if something happens? It's been two days since the team was separated. What if I lose you?"

Green Shadow smiled and hugged him.

"Knuckles, nothing's going to happen to me. I promise." Green Shadow softly kissed him.

Grass Knuckles blushed and squeezed her hand.

"Are you sure?"

"Postive."

The sunset cast an eerie red glow amount the horizon as the two heroes walked down the path. Penny was spotted in the parking lot as the two kept walking.

"Well, at least they didn't leave." Grass Knuckles mumbled.

Once the two plants got to the parking lot, The Smash and Super Brainz came out of the shadows. The Smash threw Crazy Dave forward and smirked as the plants came forward.

"Well, well, you managed to show up." Super Brainz sneered.

"Give us Crazy Dave." Green Shadow snapped.

"You'll have to fight me for him." Super Brainz said.

"You're on." Green Shadow got into position.

"If I win, you and Grass Knuckles will both surrender and give Penny to us."

"And If I win, you'll let Crazy Dave go."

Super Brainz nodded.

"Deal."

The two ran at each other before Green Shadow punched Super Brainz in the jaw. Super Brainz knocked Green Shadow to the side and pinned her down.

"Think you can beat me?"

Green Shadow fired a pea at Super Brainz, knocking him off her.

"I've done it before." Green Shadow said, kicking him in the chest.

Super Brainz launched a laser at Green Shadow, knocking her into a wall.

"SHADOW!" Grass Knuckles cried out.

Green Shadow quickly got up and blasted Super Brainz with a Precision Blast.

Super Brainz fell to the ground.

"Alright, alright. You win." He said looking at a dark corner.

Just then a rope flew out and wrapped around Green Shadow, forcing her to the ground.

"I got her! I got her!" Impfinity cried out as he held the rope.

"You can't do that! Shadow won fair and square!" Grass Knuckles shouted out.

Green Shadow struggled to break free as another rope was thrown over her by an Impfinity clone.

Crazy Dave struggled to break free as The Smash approached Grass Knuckles.

"So, you wanna fight?" Grass Knuckles held up his fists.

"Gladly." The Smash breathed out.

The two circled each other before charging.

But as soon as the two were about two clash, the back lights flicked on and a woman ran out.

"What the heck is going on here?" She demanded.

"A fight, that's what." Super Brainz snapped.

"In my parking lot? I don't think so."

The woman bent down and untied Crazy Dave before getting back up.

"Release the other plant and get out of here before I call the police!"

"Oh really?" Super Brainz sneered.

The woman nodded.

Grass Knuckles watched as The Smash slowly became distracted with the argument that was going on. He slipped over to Green Shadow and Impfinity.

"Hey what are you-," Before Impfinity could respond, Grass Knuckles knocked him out.

The clone immediately vanished as Green Shadow got free from the ropes.

"Dave! Let's go!" Grass Knuckles shouted out as the two plants ran for Penny.

Crazy Dave nodded and ran to the car.

"After them!" Super Brainz shouted out.

The Smash was picking up Impfinity as Crazy Dave hopped into the car with the plants and sped off.

"Dang it!" Super Brainz turned to glare at The Smash. "You were supposed to get them!"

"Smash had to get Impfinity."

Super Brainz groaned before he picked up his communicator.

"Immorticia, it's Super Brainz. We failed on our mission, but I hope you and Brain Freeze can find the next plant before they do."

"Don't you worry. We're already at the place."

"Did you find the plant?"

"No. But we will keep looking."

"Ok. We'll talk later."

Super Brainz hung up the communicator and watched the retreating lights of Penny.

Hopefully Immorticia had a chance.

Green Shadow slept against Grass Knuckles as Penny drove on. She was happy that she found Grass Knuckles. But she was also happy that her friends were still alive.

The next morning Green Shadow and Grass Knuckles both got out of Penny to stretch and walk around. They had stopped at another gas station and were going to stay there for a while due to a flat tire.

Crazy Dave had fallen asleep, leaving the two plants to go inside the gas station and look around.

"Hey Shadow. You might wanna come see this." Grass Knuckles said nervously.

"What is it?" Green Shadow asked.

"Look." Grass Knuckles held up a new newspaper.

Green Shadow walked forward and grabbed the newspaper.

"No way, that can't be."

"Freakopolis Freak Show finds new Flaming Flower."
