The Chasm

Chapter 4

Lily bit her lip as she jumped out of her chair. She knew she only had a few moments before Julie would be at her den, so she had to be fast. Lily quickly switched to her blue wolf, threw off her Switch Pendant, and changed her den to a Small Den.

Just as she had finished, Lily saw the flash as Julie appeared in her den. "Hey Lily!" Julie said, walking up to her.

"Oh, hi Julie," Lily said in reply.

"Listen, I saw this Jammer that had a Greely's Library, and it looks AMAZING. Want to do Greely's Inferno?" Julie asked in excitement.

"Of course! Let me change first. I'll put on items that can do more damage," Lily said, quickly putting on her phantom gauntlets. Julie did the same, and soon they were on their way to the Adventure Base Camp. They stopped outside the entrance to the large volcano simulation.

Julie quickly joined the adventure, beckoning to Lily. In a second, they were teleported to a snowy area outside the volcano. They had done this adventure many times before, and took about 6 minutes to get up to the volcano. Julie has only ever used one wolf, Sparkle Glassstone, and so she was a higher level than Lily and had 4 hearts while Lily had 3.

Though, Lily only had a little bit left until level 8, so she hoped that this adventure would finally get her up to 4 hearts. They continued through the volcano, finally getting to the part where Greely appeared and they had to fight the Phantom King.

After about ten minutes, after about 6 deep sleeps, they defeated the King, Lily delivering the final blow. Suddenly she was surrounded by a green light as she felt her level bar change. Lily has completed level 7, and was finally at 4 hearts.

She turned to Julie with a gleeful look on her face. "Congrats Lily!" Julie exclaimed, mirroring her smile.

"Thanks! Adventures should be a lot easier now that you won't have to wait for me," she laughed as they walked to where Greely was waiting, triggering his speech. The volcano erupted, they parachuted down, and chose a prize.

"Yes! Finally I have the library," Julie said in relief. "Meet you at my den?" she asked her, eager to place her new library.

"Sure," Lily smiled back and teleported to her den. She had gotten the library a month ago, and had instead chosen Greely's Desk. Lily quickly switched to her members Greely's Hideout den. She was working on turning it into a phantom-themed den, and she needed all the items she could get.

After placing her new desk, Lily immediately switched back to her small den, and placed the desk in a random spot there. Then she moved to Julie's den. Julie was waiting there for her, admiring her new library.

Silently, Lily moved up to Julie and tapped her once on the shoulder, laughing as she jumped in surprise. Julie mock glared at her before she burst out laughing.

"Okay, so what now?" Lily asked her, feeling bored.

"Hmm... I don't know We could try to find giveaways, or... I just wish we could do Forgotten Desert!" Julie exclaimed.

"I know! It would be so cool, especially if we could get betas," Lily replied, making her tone wistful, as if she couldn't do it either.

The Forgotten Desert adventure was an exclusive Members-Only adventure. It provided you with betas sometimes, which was just another way of keeping members elite and special. Members, with their spiked collars and flower crowns looked amazing and were the envy of everyone in Jamaa. And now, Lily could be one too.

Suddenly, Julie's face fell as she looked up at Lily in sadness."Sorry Lily, but I have to go. This was fun, see you later," she said with a wave.

Lily waved bye to her, sighing as she watched her log off. She felt awful for lying, but she figured that as long as she was doing it to save her friend's feelings, it was fine. That thought appeased her as she put her Switch Pendant back on and changed to her member body.
