After what Joy said yesterday, I feel a bit more confident about where this case could go. She is right, two sets of eyes are better than one, and at this point, I'll take anything. Dan Baker's parents are desperate and begging me for answers about their son's attack. Two days after he was admitted to the hospital, the police said they could open an investigation, but apparently Dan didn't want to and that was that, but his parents couldn't let it go. So Mr and Mrs Baker came to me to try and find out what happened. And after days of nothing coming up, I might have something to tell them soon.

I get to the Baker residence at about 8 a.m. the next morning. The whole complex seems like a rich person's neighborhood. Iron fences with brick columns around the blocks, and each house is basically a mansion with yards and balconies. I pulled up in my dark blue van to the address I was given and another car was also there. I don't see anything of notice on it, so I move ahead for now.

"Ok, and here we are." I'm a bit nervous, the Bakers can be a lot. 'I know they are my clients, but something is just up with them.' My gut tells me. I walk up the stairs to the front door and press the intercom, a male voice answers.

"Who's there?" The voice sounds exhausted.

"Mr Baker?" I ask the voice.

"Yes, who's this?" Ha asks frantically, talking fast.

"Mr. Baker, I am Lillian Rosen, Private Investigator, we spoke on the phone?" I reminded him. He sighs heavily into the intercom.

"Thank you for coming, please come up!" He says quickly.

The door clicks, unlocking and I walk in. The whole building screams money and privilege. Unneeded decorations and paintings lining the walls, expensive furniture and all that stuff. I come to the living area after looking for a bit, immediately an older man walks in there shakily. He looks like he hasn't slept in days, matted hair, wrinkled clothes clearly slept in, all in all just tired and frustrated.

"Ms. Rosen, please come in!" He says quickly. He hurries me through another door and I almost lose my footing in the process.

"Thank you for coming, my wife and I have been at our wit's end. After the attack we didn't know what to do. The doctors say he'll make a full recovery eventually, but the marks will scar." He rambles on as he leads me through the hallway down to what I assume is his son's room. It's pretty much bare on the inside, only a bed and an empty dresser in the corner. A male doctor in a white coat stands off the side of the bed with a clipboard in hand. At the head of the bed, a woman, most likely Mrs. Baker, sits in a chair next to the lone occupant of the bed. Dan Baker, he's shirtless with his torso wrapped In bandages.

"He's being examined right now but he'll be done in a minute." Mr. Baker says from behind me. He walks over to stand next to his wife. I turned my attention to the doctor.

"Excuse me?" I ask. The doctor turns to me.

"I'm Lillian Rosen, the Baker's hired me to find out what happened to their son. Is it at all possible if I ask you some questions about Dan Baker's condition?" I ask straightforwardly.

The doctor looks at his clipboard.

"I need to confirm some papers and finish things up in a moment, but if the family is okay and gives consent I can be with you in a moment." I nod and move to the other room to wait.

"Can you tell me anything about what happened to him?" I ask once we are both seated.

The doctor, who's name tag reads James, and I relocated to the living area of the baker residence to talk.

"One thing I can tell you is that whoever did this, he wasn't a first-time offender." He says.

"What do you mean?" I lean forward, intrigued.
