Glowing purple irises watched the bulky man destroy the buildings around her. She hugged her fluffy, and still warm from the wash, pink bunny to her chest. The girl stroked it's head, almost as if it had long, wispy hair. She whispered sweet nothings to it as well, almost as if she were the mother to a child.
Her small frame was soon covered by a shadow of a person older than her. Expecting the bulky man, she kept her focus on the toy, not wanting to face the evil.
"Hey."
A voice called towards her, clear and steady, as if none of this was actually happening. None of his could happen, right? I mean, why else would her parents walk into the building where the bulky man was looking and crashing through. Her parents would never do that, right? Her parents wouldn't leave her to d-
"Are you okay?" The same voice called out again, seemingly closer. The girl looked up and was met with grey irises.
"I'm-" The girl's voice was raspy, perhaps it was because she was to short to reach the clean water in the sink, or perhaps it's from the crying that she had finally subsided from doing. She cleared her voice, trying to get a better grasp on her voice. "I'm fine."
The girl took in the new arrival, jealous of his cleanliness, which she was lacking. He was most definitely taller than her, and his shoes might've added on a few good inches. His platinum blonde locks were placed in a ponytail behind his head. The giant pink sweater he was wearing was fuzzy, and the grey sweatpants only made his outfit look more comforting.
The new boy held out his hand. "Kurt Maloway."
Purple irises stared at the hand, reaching out her significantly smaller hand towards his. "Alexandrite Cassiterite."
He cracked a smile at this, showing points. "Those are both gemstones, right? Cassiterite is the source for tin, Alexandrite is very rare."
Happy that someone understood her name, she nodded. Her hands clasped around the pink bunny, smiling into it. She felt something moving beside her, so she moved over. The boy sat down, brushing the dirt and grime of his bright outfit. Both were hopeful that the bulky man would see them when he was done.
They waited for ten hours, until they decided to walk together; to their new future.

Alexandrite spread out her cards to show the fellow gambler. "Royal Flush!" She sung, staring directly into the man's face. She loved it when they were afraid of her. Her arm brushed all the chips to her side, a smirk on her face. She threw her legs on the table, leaning back in her chair. "You just got beat by a thirteen year old! Are you proud? I'm sure your family is!" The smirk on her face grew even wider seeing him burst out into tears.
"You monster! You don't even work here, you just do this for fun, you bastard!" The man cried, breaking down into tears. He hid his face on the table.
"Well then," Alexandrite grabbed a fist of his hair, hoisting he head upward to be met with her firm gaze. "You shouldn't have bet it all!" She dropped her grip on his head, resulting in him slamming into the table.
Alexandrite's eyes were glowing a bright purple now. Anyone who passed by their table knew that another one was gone. When you gambled with her, you gambled with a demon. A money hungry demon at that.
"Come now, Alex. Play nicely! You don't want to scare the other people around you." Kurt cooed, walking over while sipping on a whiskey.
