So he likes me?! I immediately text Ella, informing her of the new development. She replies saying "I told you so" about 12 times. All caps. She is so ridiculous.
I didn't know what to respond, but I managed to push past my fear of messing everything up and I quickly sent him a text back.
Well maybe the feeling is mutual.
Really?!
I didn't respond for a few minutes, deciding that I was going to mess with him a little. After five minutes of scrolling through various fandom blogs, I finally sent him a text.
So books huh?
Yea books are super great
Our conversation continued for a few minutes after we both decided it was time to do some reading of our own. After updating Ella on our conversation, I curled up on my bed with my book. Despite usually being able to read for hours without being distracted, I couldn't stop thinking about my conversation with Jack. What would he think of me? Would this endanger our slowly growing friendship? I hoped not because he was the only person I was willing to talk to who had as much of a passion for reading as me.
After reading for a few hours, I decided it was time to go downstairs and mingle with the family. I didn't want to, but my mother often threatened to take away my books if I wasn't social enough. I don't have a clue what she means by "social enough." I make small talk before claiming I have homework to do. I grab a small bag of pretzels and run upstairs, flopping on my bed the instant my door closes.
Eventually, sleepy-time started calling me, and I was forced to put my book away and sleep due to the sheer exhaustion caused by being a book-obsessed weirdo.
I spent my last waking moments thinking about him.
About his sparkling green eyes and chocolatey hair.
About the way he publicly obsessed over books despite the fact that everyone saw him.
About the way he greeted me with a smile every day.
About the fact that he admitted he cared over text.
About my reply to that.
Did I ruin everything?
Only time would tell.
