Me and my best friend are on my bed in my dorm studying for semester exams while listening to our favorite singer, Billie Eilish. "Hey Meg," I say as Wish You Were Gay plays quietly in the back round. "Yea?" Megan responds, "What did you get for number 14?" I ask. "D" she responds. "How did you get that? I got A."Megan asks smirking, "How did you get that?" We both smile laughing a little, "I don't know that's why I asked you."
Megan has been my best friend since 6th grade, now we're in college. I was always the kinda quite and shy type, Megan is the opposite. She's outgoing and kind of a popular girl.
As we continue studying there is a knock at the door, "Who's that?" I ask. Megan responds, "Oh! It's Jim I forgot I told him to come over!" "Oh." I say internally rolling my eyes. I never really liked Jim, Megan is too sweet and kind to be dating someone like Jim who is rude and somewhat a bully.
Megan hops off the bed to the door and opens it, "Hey." Jim says. "Hi." Megan says her face lighting up with joy. Without another word exchanged between the two they begin to kiss in the doorway as I stare down at my paper in fake concentration trying not to feel awkward. "Let's go in the hallway so we don't make it weird for Jenny." Megan says to Jim breaking their kiss. "You don't have to do that, I'm not even paying attention to you guys I'm doing my work." I say. "We're going in the hallway, it's fine," Megan responds to my unconvincing statement. "Okay." I say. They step out into the hallway as Megan closes the door behind them.
Megan was that popular girl in high school that all the boys wanted to date, I was her quiet friend and I didn't have many boyfriends in high school. As I continue my work, I hear Megan laugh cutely from the other side of the door and I can't stop the small smirk that appears on my lips.
10 minutes later Megan comes back inside with a big smile plastered on her face. "Wow, you're very happy." I say smirking a little as Megan does the same cute giggle as what I heard from behind the door a few minutes earlier. "Sorry if that was weird. Me with Jim and all." Megan says her smile falling flat on her face. "No it's fine, we're roommates. This isn't just my dorm" I say. "True". Megan says smiling bringing a smile too my face as well.
We continue studying until around midnight. Megan stands up and yawns, "It's getting late." I nod my head in agreement, " Yea, let's go to bed." I say. I crawl into bed turning off the light, "Goodnight." I say to Megan, " Goodnight." She says back turning her light off as well.
