"Two pancakes, an omelet with extra cheese, and 3 strips of bacon order up!" Ding! went the old, rusted metal in bad need of replacement. Yasmine rushed to the countertop and took the plate full of food to table five.

"It's about time!" The man grumbled as he dug his fork into the food. "Thank you miss." Yasmine nodded with a smile and walked off to another table, pulling her notepad out of her worn out apron pocket as usual. Ten dollars an hour was all she was paid and she worked from 12pm to 6pm, running around and taking orders from hungry and irritated customers.

Yasmine Harris started working at the Waffle House when she was 15 after her parents died, and after 4 years, she developed close relationships with the other workers there too. Not to mention, she lived in an apartment complex by herself in the heart of the ghetto: Atlanta, Georgia. She had clear, smooth brown skin and curves that would make a grown man melt. Although she was only 19 and desired by most men, she hadn't had sex in 2 years since her virginity was taken.

"Peaches and cream oatmeal, and salted grits order up!" Ding! The bell went again. Yasmine cringed at the sound.

"Hey Mac," she addressed the chubby, ill-built chef, "When's boss gonna change that damn bell?! Its been old since before I came here!" Yasmine smiled as she reached the plate on the countertop.

"Ah Miss Harris, don't cha know that when Candie quits instead of just sittin 'round here on her ass all day, then we'll get an extra pay check to replace the bell!" He exclaimed in his genuine southern accent while pointing to a skimpy lightskinned girl with glasses and a lollipop reading a magazine by the window. She had a towel in her lap and looked like she was supposed to be working.

"Candie!" yelled Mac, "If you don't get up off your little ass and start wipin' them tables Imma tell boss to cut yo paycheck." And with that, the girl popped up and started buffing the tables. Yasmine shook her head and giggled. "I don't understand you Candie. You stay complaining bout how you don't make enough but yet you stay suckin' on that sucker and reading the same magazine every day." Yasmine laughed.

"See I'm not like y'all niggas," Candie spoke with her ghetto tone, "This magazine tells you how ta' git fat rich if you juss follow all the steps right. I'm already in the right city, now I'm juss waitin' to make it big." Candie's hazel eyes sparkled of wonder as if she could see the future.

"Girl, the only thing you gonna make big is the unemployment rate." Mac hollered with laughter.

"Mhm, y'all juss wait 'n watch. Y'all gon' be sorry, 'specially you Mac." she scowled and scrubbed the tables harder than she was before. Yasmine walked over to her and patted her back. "Candie girl, don't stress bout old Mac. We gone get there one day, but it's closing time so come help me with these dishes." They both sighed and went around to collect the dishes from the remaining tables. Yasmine locked up the restaurant and went to go catch the bus like she usually does at 6:30.

The bus soon rolled up and came to a stop just as Yasmine walked up. "Just in time," she thought. She walked on the bus and got in her same seat she'd been sitting in since she was 15. After a few stops she began to doze off. By the time she had awoke, it was pitch black and she was still on the bus. Yasmine began to panic and hurried to the front of the bus.

"What time is it and where am I?" her eyes grew big.

"Well miss thang its 9:32 and you on Sunset Lane." he said looking a little worried like something was out there in the dark. But she knew what he was looking at. Sunset Lane is where all the drug dealers and strippers came out at night, and other worse things. It was a bad place to be at but if Yasmine didn't get off the bus now, she would've been at lot further from home than she already was.
"Okay," she started off slowly, "Let me off right here," she demanded. "You sure miss? How old are you?" he asked
