I stare at this guy in shock. I have heard of Habit and EverymanHYBRID, I just didn't think it was real. I'd ask if he was pranking me, but I think I already know the answer to that.

"My God, you're serious?"

"Do you think I put any effort into amusing you?" he asks, looking around. "You know, I remember helping the others like me. I remember what we used to do. Ah, the good times."

I just stand silent, but then I feel anger boil inside me.

"You think you've got it hard? Habit, you're like a damn god!"

He laughs. "I'm not "like" anything, Adalind. I just am."

"You really can't just do what you please," I say. "I ... I won't let you."

Habit grins at me. "Oh, did I mistakenly say this is a democracy? Well, it's not. You are going to do what I say when I say it and how I say it, or else I will make you regret it."

"You don't scare me."

He leans close to me. "Liar."

"You think you're able to do whatever you want now that the guys aren't here to stop you? Well guess what? I'm going to stop you."

"You know what? I like you. So, you'll live. For now. But I am subject to changing my mind, so I wouldn't hold your breath."

He cackles. "Follow me, rabbit. It's time to get to work."
