Everything seemed okay for the past 2 months of working here at Jimmy's. The co-workers are really nice to you, but Ms. Lauren was exactly like how I predicted. She pisses me off for no reason and always approaching me about shit that's irrelevant to my job. But, I have to do what she does and:
That's all I really can do.
Some days were really busy, and some days weren't.
On a semi-peaceful afternoon, someone walks in the store. Sometimes I don't feel like asking people if they need help, but I felt like I should've with this gentleman. I approached him to see if he needed help on what he was looking for.
"Good afternoon , do you need assistance with anything?" With the biggest smile on my face,
"Hi! And how are you?", he said with most joy in his voice, "I'm actually looking for some deodorant for my wife!"OH SHIT. He has a wife. Great.
"Well, I think I can help you with that my friend ,right this way."
"I'm right behind ya!"
After helping him, he ended up having a heart to heart conversation about random shit and he kept me smiling throughout the whole thing. His name is Rae. He's a kinda tall, light skinned gent that has snowhite colored hair and REAL light brown eyes. Did I mention a beautiful smile out this world? This may seem a little crazy right... but he's almost half a century years old! (Okay I made that sound so horrible just now). When I asked him his age and he told me that he was 49, I couldn't believe it, he at least looked like he was at least a couple years younger than that. But I was so attracted to him , and didn't know why...was it lust, did I develop an early crush? From our first talk he seemed so genuine, and he's so humorous! He was literally the only time I had a little laugh throughout the whole day.I can say I've delt with an older guy before. He was 50. I know right, fucking gross you might say. But I honestly couldn't deal with him, thinking I'm a therapist for his problems about his cheating ass wife.
That lasted at least a couple months until I kicked the bucket."Which deodorant do you want for her? Degree? Mitchum? Secret?" In my mind I was thinking NIGGAH maybe me and you can be a secret, she doesn't has to know... no one has to know!
"Oh yeah I remember her liking the secret," he puts the deodorant down and looks me in my eye, "What do you think is the best one?" He asks.
"Well I DO prefer Secret because I use it as well. You know cause we all have SECRETS and....stuff."Fuck. Where was I going with that.
"Haha! You're hilarious. And it looks like you have a secret you want to share. Go ahead." He insisted.
"Uhhh I plead the fifth," I said the the most nervousness in my voice.
" Hmmm, well maybe you can tell me next time. I gotta run, but it was nice talking with you, uh- you didn't tell me your name hun,"
"Oh, sorry. My name is Jade..." I said.
"Oh wow. One of the most precious stones in the world. I can see why your parents named you that. Precious indeed."He winked as he walked out the store and my heart dropped to the floor. It was really confusing to me at the same time. Like, does he like me?? Or he was just nice? Is he that friendly with other females, or was it just me? So many things were going on in my head , but I wasn't trying to think about it because I don't even know when I'm gonna see him again.
Going home to a warm house, ( like literally warm, like hell's dungeon) I slammed myself on the bed, and ask my 12 year old brother Jasper, "Why is life so strange..?"
"Jade, I wish I had the answer to that." He replied.
