Musgravite
"Montgomery Travers dissapeared last night, amongst his three loyal servants," I solemny declared, whisking off my plush plum-velvet mask. He had lost. Engulfed by the consuming darkness lurking inside every corner, ready to kidnap you into a world of shadows. "Oh," Molda softly gasped, tearing her eyes away from the minature, rusted copper compact mirror in her hand. Her gentle, warm pistachio-green eyes met mine. Neither of us dared to utter the train of thoughts going through our minds. However, it was clear we were baring identical worries- More and more people were vanishing into the menacing depths of the night. The palace was getting increasingly dangerouse and grave. What happened when they vanished? Relatives dissipated into thin-air yet no-one questioned it! Where did they go? All we had to grip onto as warnings were grueling wive-tales of grusome gory.
Disturbed, I placed my hands amongst the flaking window sill, basking in the luminous yet sinister moonlight pouring through the oval window. A sharp intake of breath inturrupted my train of my thoughts. BOOM! Tanned, slender fingers feircly shut the window panels and dragged the scarlet satin curtains together- A storm of dust clouded the air. The room submurged into bleak darkness. "Musgra! You foolish barmy!" Molda frantically hissed "You could've been seen without your mask!" Realisation dawned and i hastily shoved the alluring mask onto my face and knotted the ribbons tightly at the back.
"You can take your mask off in front of me," she reassured, draping a beaded shawl across her slim shoulders. Her footsteps silently pattered across the wooden floorboords towards the book-shelf. "Sometimes my dear twin," my face crumpled "I do question that." Shoulders tensing, she froze. Her frail shawl fell to the floor. Clutching my layered night gown tight across my shivering frame, i exited the room. Tensions were high. Trouble was undoubtedly brewing.
A/N- This is one of my most recent books (along with The Big Mermaid) so my writing might be different to the books i wrote 1-2 years ago :)
