The Olympians

Anyone have any ideas?" he bellowed, scanning through the group before him. He was really starting to get vexed. A lot of things rested on his shoulders, and even still, he had no idea what exactly was going on.

Lord, there are a lot of things going on. Not only our offspring are missing, a lot of things are also going haywire in the mortal realm." A tall and proud woman spoke up from the crowd. "The mist is failing, mortals are seeing more than they should. Hidden things are becoming known to those who shouldn't."

The mist is failing? Is this a coincidence? Our offspring gets missing, the mist is failing? I do not know what is going on, but we need to find out at once, immediately." Zeus bellowed from his throne at the center of the line of thrones.

It really isn't a coincidence, kid. Things are actually happening, and most of these things surpass your powers combined." A thick voice boomed through the courtyard.

A thick and burly man walked out from the crowd as gasps tore through the people. He had on a flabby pair of trousers, without a shirt, sporting his upper body proudly. He had dark brown skin, he had thick braids of natural hair and a double-bladed broad ax hung on his back. They had never seen him before and from his mode of dressing, it was sure he was not one of them. Mortals could not access Olympus, so then, who was this man?

As expected, the king of the gods made their mind known. "And who exactly are you supposed to be?" his voice rang out.

"Well, I am known by many names, the lord of lightning being the most prominent." His weird accent making it seem as though he was in slumber.

Did you say the lord of lightning?" Zeus voice rang once again from his throne. "You call yourself lord of lightning before me?"

I think what my brother wants to ask is, who are you, and what do you want?" A tan skinned man asked with a slight wave of his hand. He had blue eyes, and the smell of the ocean wafted from him.

Well, at least one of the twelve has the courtesy to ask sensible questions. Poseidon should be the one on that chair, not this noisemaker." The dark-skinned man said, pointing to Zeus.

Lightning rumbled through the skies as lightning struck the man standing before the throne, but more gasps tore through as the strikes ended. The young man stood there, unaffected by the lightning, in fact he looked...excited.

Well, that was interesting, but I could tell you that I said I was the lord of lightning. Or did I miss that?" he asked, raising his palm to the skies. "I guess you just consumed one of your lightning bolts, king of Olympus. Let me show you what real lightning feels like."

The skies darkened as lightning rumbled. A single line of thunder, a single streak of lightning gathered in his hand as he gripped it. He turned to the throne, a smile on his face. "My king." He said in mock respect before he threw his weapon at the king of the gods.

You really should know that there are forces in the universe that you should respect, and even if you do not wish to pay respect, at least make way for them to pass through unharmed." He said slowly, taking a step forward. "Your fathers are awoken, and they are angry. The enemies of old are awake, and they seek for the blood of Olympus. And take a wild guess, they have allies. Allies strong enough to make Olympus fall in minutes. We are not enough to face them, or you children will not be called into matters like this, but we need you. We need all the pantheons, we need all the gods. Not only to keep the mortal realm the way it is, but also to keep your gods in good health. I guess you need the worship of mortals to remain, do you not?" his accent dragging every word slowly.

He faced the crowd of gods. "We need you." He said, opening his hands.

And why will we believe you? You speak of our fathers, Kronos is locked deep in Tartarus, who do you speak of? Before you come here and speak words that do not make sense, I really think you should think about it really well." Zeus' voice came from his throne, a little lower than before.

You think I speak of the child, Kronos? His presence means nothing to us. I speak of his fathers, king of Olympus. I speak of Tartarus himself and his offspring, the giants. I speak of Uranus, the sky god, born before the creation of the earth. They seek revenge, they seek Olympus and the realm of men, of the source of your power."

Uranus and Tartarus are two sides of a coin. They can never come together."

Do not speak like you know that, little one. Two sides of a coin are still the same coin." The accent came again, this time a little annoyed." I do not need you to believe us. I need you to help us stop what is coming."

What makes you think we can help you?"

Well, you are just one of the many pantheons on this world. Yours is not the only one I'm paying a visit." He turned to leave. "Think about it. Very soon you will have good reason to join our cause."

Silence covered the courtyard for a few minutes even after the stranger walked straight into thin air. All eyes were converged to the wall beside the center throne. It was a mountain wall previously, but now, the wind was blowing through a hole the size of a double decker bus. It was just impossible to believe.

Now, you cannot tell me that among all the gods of Greece, none of you know who that is, are you?" his voice came again with a vengeance.

Well, I will say I do. Very much in fact, I am familiar with the lightning lord." Hermes spoke up from his throne. His helmet gleaming in the setting sun.

Heh, are you going to speak, or you want to see if you can also escape my lightning bolt?"

Well, he is of the Orisha, and old and ancient pantheon in Africa. Mostly they are in slumber, only getting up in times of grave danger or so the books say." He spoke absentmindedly, like he was reading a book but not in the present.

Ancient? Even to us?" the fear was back in the king of the gods. "You mean this pantheon is older than the gods of Olympus?"

From what I see, they are older than the Titans. They are the embodiment of nature, we are the representation. Now you know why he was stronger than you are."

You spoke of being close to this 'lord'. Care to explain?"

That was the lord of lightning as he introduced himself although I believe he just did that to intimidate you. He is called Sango, the god of lightning."
