First chapter of my first serious story on here, called "This One Time At Band Camp". I decided to post it to give you a little impression of what it's going to look like. Enjoy and please do give me reviews, feedback!

I stare out the window as a smile forms on my face. The warm rays of the sun tickle my face. Oh how I've longed for summer and now it's finally here. Those cold mornings and icy nights seriously got the best of me. I'm glad they're going to be over for a while.

I could not be more excited for the summer that's coming my way. That's because I'm currently on my way to music camp. I've signed up for it half a year ago, together with my best friend. After months and months of waiting, the time is finally here. When I read the advertisement, I was immediately drawn to the concept. It is supposed to be an amazing camp, in which one will make music and new friends, but also learn new things. Campers will learn to play new songs and improve their technique. I've been playing music for a long time now, but I feel like there's always room for improvement.

The main thread of this camp, which also pushed me towards signing up for it, is the 'band' aspect. All the campers will form bands with a few other people. At the end of camp, we will have a final performance, which means that all the 'bands' will perform the song they have written with each other. This sounds like an amazing thing, so I am not complaining at all. I'm usually not a big fan of performing in front of an audience, but I guess this is for a greater cause.

Now here we are in the car, being driven by my mother. The camp is about two hours away from our hometown, but still, she didn't mind to bring the two of us, which surprised me. I can tell that my best friend Bethany is also really excited; she has a huge smile plastered on her face and she is nervously fumbling with her fingers. I don't blame her. Just like me, she's not too keen on performing, but I think she will be just fine. She's an amazing musician.

"I hope there are some nice people at camp to form a band with," she says, and I nod. I hadn't even thought of that, but she's right. In order to form a well-functioning band, you need to have a good bond with the other members. Bonding can sometimes be difficult, so I hope it's going to work out for us, though I'm sure it will. Right now I am, at least.

"Yeah, I really do too. Otherwise, it's going to be very, very awkward," Bethany nods in agreement this time as we chuckle a little at the thought.

It takes us a while of driving, but eventually, the three of us finally arrive at the location, which is already beautiful. It's in the middle of the woods, which is a perfect setting for a camp if you ask me.

"It reminds me of Camp Half-Blood," Bethany whispers as she stares out the window. "Amazing," I don't get all of her book references, but that's fine. As long as she knows what she's talking about. "It's the camp in the Percy Jackson series," she elaborates when she notices I'm not fully catching on. "It's great," I nod understandingly, as I have, in fact, heard of the Percy Jackson series.

I can already see people with bags and instruments. A warm feeling fills my stomach at the sight of it. I am going to spend a week with these people, and I am sure I am going to have a lot of fun. I love to make music, and to listen to it is a great hobby of mine too. Bethany and I make music together all the time. It really helps that we both like the same kinds of music; it makes things a lot easier. The idea of spending two weeks with people who are just as passionate about music sounds amazing.

We both hop out of the car and take out our stuff as well. We reach for our guitars and the rest of our things before turning towards the other people, having said a quick goodbye to my mother. We already did our big goodbyes back at home. Besides, we'll see each other in a couple of weeks. I'm at camp, not at some kind of dangerous destination.
