Once Upon a Time...
There were three children who loved their Grandma very much. She always played with them and told pass-along stories with them. They loved to spend time with her, but she lived so far away!
One day, they missed her so much that they decided to go visit her. But how would they get there? They couldn't drive and it was too far to bike. Aha! They would mail themselves! How hard could it be?
Ellie, the middle child, found three boxes in the garage. As soon as they dragged them outside and climbed in. Adam, the youngest (and the cutest), said "This box is too small!".
So Ellie went on a search for the biggest boxes she could find. She ran to her neighbor Lucy's house and told her urgently, " I need the biggest boxes you have!". Lucy laughed, "Well Ellie, I've got just what you're looking for".
Ellie was sent off with three humongous boxes, each one stacked on the next.
Ellie and Adam both got into their, but Alexander, the oldest, hesitated and wondered if this was a good idea. He shrugged and jumped in his box as well.
Suddenly, Ellie exclaimed, "What if it takes a long time to get to Grandma's house?! We need some snacks for the trip!" She rushed inside and came back with an apple, water bottle, and a pillow for each of them.
When they were all settled in their boxes, Ellie wondered out loud, "Who's going to tape up and mail our boxes?" Their mother surely wouldn't!
Just then, their friend Thomas came riding down the road on his bicycle. Alex shouted, "Hey Thomas! Will you tape us up in these boxes?"
Thomas hesitated, " uhh..."
" Please?" Ellie whined
" Yeah, peeease!" begged Adam.
Thomas, thinking it was a great joke, gave in and agreed, "Sure, Alex".
After taping each box shut, he loaded them onto a wagon and pulled them to the post office. Thomas made sure to scribble FRAGILE on each box before he dripped them off right on time for the pick-up.
They were lifted onto a truck and heard the engine roar. Soon they post track of time and before long they were on their way.
The truck came to a stop and they felt themselves being moved. Just as they were getting impatient, a sound reached their ears that they had never heard before. There was an odd sensation and they started going very FAST.
After a while, things settled a bit and little Adam spoke up, "Where kids?". Alexander consoled him, "we're right here, Adam". "Does anyone know where we are?" Ellie was never given an answer as they all drifted off to sleep.
They were awakened with a jolt, "Are we there yet?" Ellie asked. "Yeah, I think we are!" Alexander exclaimed.
After being moved several times, they finally stopped. It was quiet and then they heard a doorbell, a car door, and their Grandma's voice, "Are those for me? I wasn't expecting any deliveries"
A man's voice said, "Yes, ma'am"
"OK, thank you!" their Grandma replied. She pulled the packages into her house, tore the tape off of each one, and got the surprise of her life when her grandchildren popped up!
"Eeeeeeee!!!" Grandma Peg shrieked with disbelief written on her face. "
"We missed you so much and couldn't wait to see you!" Ellie told her.
Grandma Peg gasped and said, "I was just on my way to get on a plane and surprise you!"
They all laughed and said, "We love you, Grandma Peg".
She smiled and replied, " I love you too".
And they lived happily ever after... after calling their mother...
