Finn opened her eyes, the light gazing through the window would strike her face. She would hide her eyes underneath the warm covers. It was always the same, a warm evening day. She would breathe in the fresh air, however her nostrils were confronted with an awful smell. It smelt like smoke and syrup. Pancakes! She'd clench her nose, while putting on a tiny, plain sweater. She put on her pink, bunny slippers, she had worn them for so long that she couldn't remember when she first had got them. She then walked across the creaky floor boards, that would lead down to the stairs. One of the stairs had broken when her step-dad stepped onto one of her toys, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head. Carefully, Finn avoided the broken stair, and made her way to the kitchen.
She looked over to her step-dad coughing and waving his hand in air. Finn sniffled, the smoke was coming into her nostrils, making her nose run.
"Did you burn them again?" She asked. "Oh, yes.." Her step-dad replied, "do you mind making them again?"
She nodded, and heading over to the stove. Finn added the mix to the pan and waited patiently for it to cook. While she was waiting, she turned her focus to her step-father, who was busy working on papers. Finn missed her mother, she had brunette hair, and was the head of the family. She always would take care of everyone before herself, no matter the scenario. She loved this trait about her mother, but that was what took her from Finn. She was deep in thought, however, her father interrupted with, "How many layers do you think we can make?"
She paused for a second, the said, "A billion," a big smile on her face. Finn placed the warm pancakes onto the table. He smiled, then reached his arm to pour a huge glob of syrup onto pancakes to top it all off. "Let's feast!" He said, digging a silver fork into the huge layer of pancakes. Finn smiled, and did the same.
