Hi! There's a bit of a story behind this story, so.....let's go.

Earlier today, I was looking through old art and stories, and I stumbled on this long lost gem. I'd written it in fifth grade, and when I finished it, I read it to the entire class for the last ten minutes of the day. I assume they liked it, but....I don't honestly remember.

The original story was about a tree named Scithea. I'm not kidding, she was a literal tree, with branches, and leaves, and she could somehow walk around the forest she lived in. Her children were flowers, because, and I quote "only the wisest flowers grow into trees." Fifth grade me had quite an active imagination. The villain of the story was a giant castle that just....randomly landed in the middle of the forest, and drew the main character and her children to it. It had humans as henchmen, so....my view of humanity as a fifth grader was apparently not the greatest. The castle kidnapped Scithea's son, and she had to traverse the castle, solving riddles until she found her son, whose petals had all been torn off as a form of torture. One of the castle's henchmen helped Scithea get her kid out of the castle, and then a golden castle landed, Scithea said "hey, these two castles are gonna fight sometime," everyone went "oh no," and the book ended. I originally intended for there to be a second book, evidently.

The first book was a whopping total of thirteen pages long.

Needless to say, I am not publishing this version of the book. I am instead rewriting it, with characters I am more familiar writing, the castle as a spaceship (although still shaped like a castle), and forest spirits and fae as opposed to literal trees and flowers. Hope you enjoy!
