It was a bright sunny day and the first day of school after vacation, I was getting ready when my mom suddenly barged into my room and seeing the mess that I had made with my clothes all around the room and books scattered on the floor she started lecturing me on cleanliness and about how I should be responsible since I was the eldest of the 2 siblings! Well, just to introduce myself - I'm Tiffany, I have a younger brother who is 2 years younger to me and I turn fifteen next month i.e on 13th September.
My school life is not very happening as I don't have too many friends, just Rachel who is my best friend since kindergarten and Tom!
Tom - is the sweetest, kindest and the only boy I'm comfortable talking to in the whole class, we have been friends since we were 10 and he has always been by my side saving me from all the bullies in school. Rachel always teases me when we are studying together or when we are out shopping or just hanging out saying that Tom and I should be a couple since he cares about me so much, but to be honest I haven't thought about Tom that way, sure he's handsome but I can't even imagine thinking about Tom that way since we're such good friends and another reason is that I can't lose him as a friend, as far as I know, high school relationships hardly last a few months and once the relationship ends things get messy, so no I'm fine being 'just friends' with Tom.
We were in our first class which was history and we were waiting for the teacher to come, she never gets late but I guess she got stuck in some work, so taking advantage of the situation the boys in the class started throwing paper rockets at me, I was annoyed but I stayed mum because I didn't want to cause any trouble, Tom who was sitting nearby noticed it but kept quiet as he didn't want to create a scene. It was when this really rude boy got up and came close to me and started teasing me for how my hair was tied (I usually leave my hair open but today I decided to tie a bun with hair coming out from both sides of my face ), I tried looking away from the boy but he came close to my face and that's when from the corner of the eye I noticed an angry Tom getting up and coming towards my seat, he was telling the guy to back off and leave me alone. Soon enough the teacher came in and both of them hurried to their seats. I always had faith in Tom that he would always be by my side and come to my rescue whenever I needed him, I couldn't help smiling the whole time in class after this incident!
We were halfway through the day and it was break time, Rachel and I were getting our lunch and sitting at our usual place. We saw Tom coming towards us with a sad face. He was quiet and didn't say much during the break. It was now our last period and I looked at Tom sitting in his usual place at the back of the class and I could still sense the sadness in his eyes, I wasn't sure what was wrong because he was such a fun-loving guy who was always joking around and smiling! I had to know what was wrong and decided to ask him after class.
We were on our way home, Tom walked me home every day since he lived just a block away from me and on way, I kept on asking what was wrong but Tom remained quiet. As we reached my house he looked up to me and lightly said, It is my last week in school, my dad is getting transferred to Florida!"
