Saturday
Saturday was finally here! When I got up, I awoke with happiness. At around 12:30, Alice and I started to prepare for my party. Alice set up the decorations and put out the food. The shrimp, nachos and hamburgers were all ready at around 8:00. The lights were hanging properly. The DJ showed up on time. The house was dimly lighted to enhance the dance floor. My Dad and Silva went out for their date night. Layne and Courtney came over at two and we got “primed”, as Courtney put it. They got me all dolled up-most likely having Shane in mind at the time. I ended up in a light blue top with dark jeans with blue flats. Who knows, I thought, he just might notice me.
The doorbell started ringing at around 8:30 and by 9:30 my house was full of people. Everyone was dancing and having a great time. I was the center of attention and people were congratulating me left and right on what a great party it was. It was like the whole town was here. Well, except one person.
I don’t know why I’m worried about Xavier. He said he’ll come so I have to believe and who cares if he doesn’t come, I have more friends.
This is so weird of me--obsessing over some guy I don’t even really know. Usually guys all came to me without any problem and I never wanted their attention. Xavier was obviously an exception as he never paid me any attention. I realized with a shock that I wanted Xavier’s attention. It was a weird feeling.
I found myself never fully enjoying my own party because I was too music hoping Xavier would walk through my front door. He never did.
Through the night I danced with plenty people and had fun at my party but when I finally realized Xavier was never going to show, my stomach twinge.
Around one, the party had died and my guests my leaving. I gave my hugs and said goodbye to everyone, cleaned up a little bit and went to sleep feeling unease and sad.
