Demon

This is an interpretation of depression as a demon. I attempted to draw it based off of a description I originally wrote which I will put below.

Picture a room so completely dark you can't even see your own hand centimeters in front of your face. A very faint light shines up from a burning hot fire under a grate in the center of the room iluminating a person. That is the only light in the entire place. The person in particular is on their knees curling into themselves. Their wrists are chained through the grate to something on the other side and they bare a chain around their neck that stretches off into the darkness. Long heavy horns are slowly and painfully growing from their head. As you look at them they force their head off the ground and jerk in your direction. Deep new scratch marks mark their face and run from their neck down their chest. The wounds look fresh and blood slowly oozes from them. Glancing down at their hands you see long sharp and bloody claw like nails showing that the wounds are self inflicted. Their eyes are deep and black, dark oily tears perpetually run down their face mixing with the blood and making the wounds sting. You then realize that they have no visible mouth. Ripped and bloody bandages hang off it's body held on only by clotted blood that has fused them to it's skin. The creature looks away from you curling back into themselves and a gut wrenching screech explodes from the darness all around you. The creature grabs their head and continues to curl farther into themselve trying to disappear from existence. The screams continue in guilt ridden agony as they scratch more at themselves and their horns are growing ever longer. The blaze beneath them rages and burns their flesh as it touches the burning grate they're chained to sit apon. As you watch in horror at this being try to tear itself apart the chains that hold it quickly recead pulling it's arms down and it's head back. The creature yelps then cries softly for many moments before the chains loosen and they're able to move again. Still letting out little sobs they arange themself into a sitting position and the fire creating the only light to see by vanishes. Moments later a soft white light appears iluminating a normal, seemingly happy, teenager sitting where the horrible monster was. They look up at you, you haven't moved since you first saw the creature. As you stand there terrified wondering if what you just witnessed was real or not they stare at you with a deep sadness in their eyes. As if reading your mind in a voice barely audible even in the silent room they tell you not to worry. That what you saw was simply how they feel inside and that it was what they referred to as an inner demon.

It's all kind of a metaphor for how the person at the end feels. The horns grow with the guilt that the being feels, the list growing ever longer and the weight getting heavier and harder for them to carry. They have no mouth because no one seems to listen to them especially when they try to explain how they're feeling. The long claws and scratches show how they don't want to do the things that make them feel guilty and they think they need to punish themself for wronging others. When they look up at you crying as they always seem to be and you hear the screeching from the shadows it's them trying to express their guilt but not knowing how to and it just causes confused pain for the one hearing it. They look away from the one viewing it feeling all of the guilt from all the wrong it believes it has done to you and viciously tears at itself litterally tearing itself apart in grief and as punishment only to have the chains pull it out of harms way before it kills itself believing that it should continue living because it's still needed. It cries softly forcing itself to get over it for the time being and takes on the appearance of a normal person who's there to help and tells you not to worry, seeming fine. I added a part to the little story talking about bandages torn and hanging from it's body to show that sometimes it tries to fix itself or someone tries to help it by wrapping up their wounds so they can heal but it doesn't last long before the creature tears them off in agony and as the bandages are pulled off any clotted blood that had fused it to the skin is ripped off as well causing it even more pain.
