"Hey, buddy, where are you?" I called out as I opened the door with the tray of food resting on my arm, to which I dropped as I saw the sight in front of me.

My bed was flipped onto its side, the matters on the floor and the pillow and blanket were tossed in random directions, my bookshelf was in ruins and my few books lay torn in half and some even in quarters or with snapped spines, not to mention the oil lamp I had was shattered and the glass was scattered across the floor.

My tiny desk was now legless and every drawer in the room was taken out of it and dumped on the floor, exposing my work and few drawings I had done in my free time as well as everything I held dear to me, including my clothes.

My curtains were shredded, and there were pieces of fabric in all corners of the room. It looked like a junkyard, but I couldn't care less about my furniture. No, what I cared for was the tiny ball of fluff I had picked up a few days ago.

"Where are you boy?" I asked in distress as I looked for the little pup that had been taking refuge in my room, to which I heard a tiny whimper in the corner the room from under the remains of my destroyed bookshelf.

I scrambled and tripped on a torn book as I lunged for the pile of rubble. I used my forearms to brace the fall, but the glass from my broken oil lamp was lying right there.

I cried out in utter pain as the sharp shards pierced my skin and made me bleed. Worried the oil might seep into my wounds and infected, I pulled myself off the floor.

I looked down at my arms they were a bloody mess, with a few shards still stuck inside the flesh and there were dozens of small cuts that drained the blood from my limbs.

I grit my teeth before crawling towards the bookshelf and ripping it apart once more. I threw the planks of the old wood across the room behind me until I found the familiar brown fur of my only friend. I cried tears in joy, but it was soon cut off as I noticed his situation. There was a rope tied around his neck, but it was too tight for the poor thing to breath properly. He was having trouble breathing, and the leash was connected to a piece of brick, barely giving him any room to move. I felt tears cascade down my face as I hastily unfastened the ropes, each movement burning and hurting my arms, not to mention increasing the blood flow that secreted from my cuts. I picked up the pup with my weak arms before setting him down on my lap as I stroked his shaking body. He seemed horrified, and his one eye was paralyzed in fear."Oh my my, Eren! I didn't know pieces of trash lived in dumps! Oh wait, they do. Or at least they should." A familiar high pitched voice said from the doorway. I grit my teeth at Petra's gloating accent and turned my head towards her.

"Hmph. The two wastes of space, clinging to each other because no one else thinks they're worth a rats ass. That thing is the closest you'll ever get to a boyfriend." She said as she motioned to the now very aggressive dog in my lap. The little guy was growling and snapping its jaws at her as if screaming 'let me at her!' over and over again."I'd appreciate it if you'd leave." I said calmly as I looked away. She laughed at me."But the show is just getting started! Oh! I wonder how you're going to explain all of this to Mr Smith!" She said as she made a fake gasp as if this was nothing more than a game.

"I'll tell her what happened, Petra!" I spat her name out. She giggled."What evidence do you have to use against me? For all we know, it could've been that mutt's fault. Or, he might think you're just jealous and you're pinning the blame on someone else. And his poor sweet, innocent Petra of all people!" She exclaimed as she put her arm on her forehead as if dramatically fainting in horror."But I'm not done yet." She said, and I looked away, not wanting to hear a word she was saying.

She noticed this. "Hey, look at me!" She yelled, and I continued to stare at the wall, not moving my gaze in the slightest. She growled."Fine. Then I guess you'll never see this again." She said as she held up an object. I turned around, and my heart stopped beating."My mom's key-" I didn't get another word out as she started to crush it under her foot. I let out a cry of horror as I scrambled for the key. The puppy growled and leapt at Petra. The woman merely smirked before kicking him with no care, as if he was a simple toy. He let out a heartbreaking whimper as her leg made contact and he went rolling across the floor, and crying in pain as he slowed down."No!" Was all I yelled before she kicked my side like she had always done when we were kids. Then I remembered the first day we met.
