i'm walking down the hallway
i always take the long way
to navigate the seas of people
just so i could see you
my heart is trapped in a vice
a bullet in my eye would suffice
my heart and head won't comply
like a death metal lullaby
if i were to say goodbye
i'd think of you all the time
my speech is slurred, heartbeat off the curve
i'm a bartender
all i do is listen and calm the nerves
what i try to say is null and void
and at the end of the day
the unintended words
i speak are harsh and oblique
and that's the price i pay.
