Chapter 3: So Your My Daughter...

"Bye guys." I said, sighing as I watched the boys leave. It was late and I was getting ready to pass out. I walked into my bedroom and saw Melody's little frame taking up, not even half of my bed. I walked over to the empty side of the bed and grabbed two pillows, then walking into the living room. "What a comfortable bed you have Harry..." I mumbled to myself, looking at my couch, which was surprisingly cozy. Don't get me wrong. I'd rather have my bed. I don't know what I'm suppose to do with a child. I barely know what to do with myself sometimes. I guess this couldn't take to long though. Georgia would probably get her place running again and then everything would go back to normal. After all, she did say she would take Melody back once she got back on her feet again. I laid down on my couch and rested my head on a white pillow. I stared blankly at my ceiling, thinking about Jocelyn, and when Georgia said,"She was killed instantly." I couldn't even process it through my mind. Tears threatened to fall from the corners of my eyes. I shut them quickly so they couldn't escape. How could everything seem to be falling apart in just one day? I covered my face with my hands and dragged them across, then back down to my side again.

I felt a cold breeze flow along my cheek, then down my bare stomach and arm. I clenched the blanket tighter and scrunched my eyes together. "Harry..." I heard a light whisper say. My eyes opened wide and I sat up immediately. I looked around my apartment only to see my normal surroundings. It was dark and the only light was the bright moon peering in my window and deciding to stay put on my face. I laid back down. I felt tense and fragile like a baby. Maybe I was just hearing things. It didn't sound like Melody. She would have called me "Daddy" anyways. No, this sounded like an actual person. A female voice that sounded way to familiar. I closed my eyes and waited for a sleep to drift across my body. It took a while, but I soon was in my dreams and sound asleep.

I looked around and I was in a wheat field. The sun hanging firmly in the sky above my head and the clouds big, white and puffy. "Harry!" I heard a voice call out into the distance. I squinted my eyes and looked out past various amounts of wheat. Before I knew it I stood before a girl with long blond hair and large blue eyes that bored into mine with a mesmerizing twinkle in them. She smiled as her tan skin glistened int the sun light. I beaming and walked close to her. "Jocelyn." I whispered smiling as I placed one hand on her cheek and the other on her waist. She smiled sadly and laced her hand over the one I had placed on her face. "Where have you been?" I asked, tears forming in my eyes. "In America." She said bluntly while looking down at the ground. I brushed a piece of hair out from her eyes. "But that isn't what I came to talk about, Harry." She said pulling away from my embrace. "Okay then. Shoot." I said crossing my arms, waiting for her response. "Now that I'm gone..."She sighed. "I need you to take care of Melody." I scoffed and glanced to my right.

"Trust me. I've already heard this from that lady Georgia." I replied, furrowing my eyebrows and getting, well quit angry. "No Harry. I want you to try your best to be the father I know you can be. I want you to treat her just like you would if you were older. I want you to treat her like she is the center of your world. I need you...need you, to watch out for my baby." Her words made my mood ease. "Promise me that Harry." She demanded almost in a question. I hesitated but realized how much she really wanted me to do this. I moved closer to her and held her in my arms, pulling her into a hug that I hadn't had in years. "Promise." I said as I kissed her rosy cheek. She smiled with her eyes closed. "Good." She said, a silver tear falling from the corner of her eye. She began to walk off in the opposite direction from me. "Where are you going?" I said taking large steps after her. "I'm leaving." She said, a grin carved onto her lips and a light chuckle in her voice. She kept walking and I just watched her. Soon she disappeared into the distance and as she disappeared, a rose bloomed in the same spot she vanished. The ruby red rose stood out in the light brown field of dry wheat that swayed to the right due to the wind. But there that rose stood. Firm and beautiful. Just like Jocelyn.

"Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" Melody screamed in my ear waking me up from my dream. I opened my eyes and saw her standing at the edge of my couch, looking at me. I sat up and she just looked at me, grinning. I swear it was like looking in a mirror. Her dark brown hair tangled in curls was messy and her eyes looked  even more green than yesterday. "What?" I said, finally answering her call of my name. "Do you have any magical pancakes?" She asked, her face as serious as a wooden board. "Um no. We happen to be out at the moment." I said sarcastically. Her face turned sad and her eyes looked down at the floor. Her bottom lip pursed out a mile long and she replied with a simple, "Oh." I watched her walk over to my second couch, half the size of this one, as she sat down on it. She looked down at her feet and stared at them as she swung them back and forth. I sighed at her expression and walked into the kitchen. I got out my pan, turned on the stove and got out some pancake mix. I began to make some for melody as she noticed my activity and walked into the kitchen soon sitting at one of the bar stools. She smiled the whole time as she watched me make them for her. I got used to my "audience"  and began to toss the pancakes out of the pan, then catching them back inside of it. She giggled and beamed brightly making her dimples show.

"What do you think?" I said moments later as I saw her take a large bite of the chocolate chip pancakes. "There delicious!" She said, struggling to pronounce the word. Her cheeks puffed out a little and she gobble down the pancake faster than I could say the word. I laughed lightly and walked over to the living room. She hoped down from the stool and trailed behind me like my shadow. "Where are your bags?" I asked. "What bags?" She answered with a question. Then i remembered, she didn't bring anything except for crayons and a coloring book. "I guess we're going shopping." I said, chuckling gently to myself. "Yay!" She said trowing her arms in the air. "Wait..." I said, remembering that I could never go out in public with her. Especially if she was wearing pajamas and had bed hair. No that would never work. Someone was going to have to get them for me then bring them back to the flat. None of the boys could do it. They would be questioned like crazy. I haven't even told my mom about Melody yet, let alone ask her to buy clothes and other necessary things. Plus she would freak. Only one person could do this for me. Scared to ask yes, but she was  my only choice right now.

           My sister. Gemma.
