Daughter of the Gods Book 3: The Final Battle

Chapter 9: Steve

We board the Benatar and all of us find a seat while Rocket takes the driver's seat.

"Ok,"Rocket says," Who here hasn't been to space?" Rhodey, Natasha, and I all raise our hands figuring he was going to tell us something special we had to do.

Instead he says,"You better not throw up on my ship." before turning around and facing the window.

"Approaching jump in 3...2...1!" Nebula informed Rocket. The ship lurches forward into the wormhole and we are launched into incredible speeds. I grab the edges of my seat for dear life because it was not a fun first experience. Finally the ship slows down and we hover right next to the planet in which it was detected that Thanos used the Infinity Stones again. Carol came into view as she hovered in front of the Benatar.

"I'll head down for recon." She says over comms before flying toward the surface of the planet.

"This is gonna work Steve." Natasha assured me once Carol had disappeared from view.
I look at my picture of Peggy in my compass,"I know it will. Cause I don't know what I'm going to do if it doesn't." I see Carol approach the spaceship.

"No satellites, no ships, no armies, no ground defenses of any kind. It's just him." Carol states.

"And that's enough." Nebula says honestly.

"Any sign of Atlantia?" I ask hopeful.

Carol shakes her head."I only took a look around the outside of the hut but I didn't spot her but I did spot movement in the hut when Thanos was outside." That gives me hope.

Point of View Change: Atlantia

I was in extreme pain as I laid in the hut that Thanos had escaped to. He did not look in any better shape then I felt with his whole left side burnt to a crisp and the gauntlet burned onto his hand. I look up as he walks in from the garden with his bag of some alien fruit. It tastes really good since he has been feeding me that with a spoon from the quarter-filled bottle of nectar I had in my pocket. It wasn't enough to heal me completely but it did heal me enough to use the stones again. As he puts the juice from the fruit over the fire we hear a faint sound. Then out of nowhere this yellow form of power hits Thanos and a girl lands in the hut and wraps her hands around his neck. Who I assume to be Bruce in the Hulkbuster armor, pops out of the ground grabbing Thanos Gauntlet while Rhodey grabs the other wrist. Thor flies in a chops off the gauntlet and I hear Thanos groan in pain. From the door, I see Steve, Natasha, and Rocket enter. Natasha walks quickly over to me while Rocket kicks over the gauntlet.

"Oh. No." I hear him say and I knew he discovered the Infinity Stones were not there.

"Where are they?" Steve asks him.

"Answer the question." Carol says squeezing Thanos's neck when he doesn't respond.

"The universe required correction. After that, the stones served no purpose, beyond temptation." Thanos states.

"You murdered trillons!" Bruce yells angrily pushing Thanos to the ground.

"You should be grateful." Thanos snapped back before getting punched by Bruce in his Hulkbuster armor.

"Where are the stones?" Natasha asked untying the small chains around my ankles that held me in place but were not needed since I wasn't the powerful girl I used to be after the infinity stones powers were forced through my veins.

"Gone. Reduced to atoms." Thanos replies.
"You used them two days ago."

"I used the stones to destroy the stones. It nearly killed both of us. But the work is done. It always will be because she," Thanos said
pointing to me,"will never recover enough for her to bring back that half of the universe. I am inevitable."
