A Relationship Full of Challenges

Chapter 1: An Unplanned Beginning

In a teenagers life high school is the most challenging time, because of all the peer pressure and societal standards. In this case high school was coming to an end for a senior by the name of Alex Sanchez who attended Monarch High School in Badsville, Kentucky. Badsville was a small town where everyone knew each other and also knew each other's business. One day after school Alex and her best friend at the time decided to do some catching up before a volleyball game when an individual unknown to Alex approached them. The individual was known to Alex's best friend Donna as Rosalind Jenkins. Donna introduced Rosalind to Alex by stating that she was a friend of hers from the previous school year. Rosalind's demeanor caught Alex's attention quite quickly seeings how things with her current boyfriend Matt weren't going so well. Rosalind embraced Alex which set off a secret spark between the two. Rosalind proceeded to linger around the table the girls were sitting at when she noticed a jar of dill pickles that Alex was chomping on before her game. Rosalind took it upon herself to ask Alex if she was going to drink the pickle juice in the jar which led Alex to make a disgusted face. Before Alex could blink Rosalind had scooped up the jar and chugged the juice. Once the juice was gone Alex and Rosalind parted ways embracing one last time lighting a small fuse between the two. 

Two weeks later.... 

Donna had posted on facebook a throwback Thursday picture of Rosalind that caught Alex's attention. It just so happened that the week prior to seeing the picture Alex and Matt had ending things. Which gave Alex the perfect opportunity to message Rosalind without feeling as if she was cheating on Matt. So with a quickness Alex privately messages Rosalind and told her who she was and where they knew each other from. Rosalind's responses were quick and full of life. Their conversations started out as a simple introduction but it did not stay high and dry for long. Rosalind proceeded to tell Alex that she was in the Navy stationed in Denmark, Texas. This made both Alex and Rosalind sad since they mutually wanted to spend time with each other. 

Later that evening...

As the night progressed they gave up on texting and began a FaceTime call. This call was not only thought provoking but it shed some light on the true feelings that they shared for one another. Rosalind gave Alex her entire background and vice versa the call lasted for hours but that initial call turned into talking on the phone day in and day out every day. 

A few days later...

One evening as Alex was scrolling through her twitter she received a message from an unknown account she proceeded to open it noticing that the first few words stated " Hello I  am Rosalind's Mother". Taken aback Alex replied quickly introducing herself and also questioning why she messaged her. Rosalind's mother responded with an invitation to meet and greet Rosalind's family prior to her coming home for the holidays. Alex eagerly agrees to meet with them. She excitedly explained the event to Rosalind which made her swell up with happiness that the family wanted to get to know her. 

The following weekend...

Alex goes out with Rosalind's family to the Chestnut Mall where they talked, laughed, and cried a little. Close to the end of the adventure Rosalind's mother invites Alex to pick up Rosalind at the airport as a surprise when she comes home for the holidays. Alex tears up and agrees to take part in this special moment. 

Two weeks later... 

The time had finally arrived to pick Rosalind up from the Obama National Airport. Emotions were running high her anxiety was through the roof she could not wait to hold the person she had been talking to for three months once again. The moment before she appeared out of the tunnel Alex realized that she had found her forever piece to her puzzle because her heart had never ached for someone. She had never dedicated so much time, love, care, and nurturing. When Rosalind appeared she dropped her bags and placed a gentle kiss on Alex's forehead and in that moment Alex confirmed that they were a a permanent package. The girls clung together the entire ride home which comforted Alex seeings how she was so anxious the entire time she was waiting. When the highway lights began shining through the car windows Alex glanced up at Rosalind and they shared their very first love filled kiss. The kiss that began their rollercoaster of a relationship. Little did they know they were in for one hell of a ride for the next nine months of their lives.
