If you are wondering why the girl is gray and black, it's because she views her life as bleak and boring. But when daydreaming of fictional characters she loves, it feels colorful. She looks sad because she knows none of it is real, however, she doesn't want to let that happiness go. (that's why Toby is in color and is glowing/fading away.) Imagination :')
