Graduation Day:
I pulled on my graduation robe, the silver color highlighting my tan.
"You look beautiful, baby," Claire said, wrapping her arms around my waist from behind. I blushed, turning around to face her and kissed her softly.
Claire and I have been together for a year. My parents were a little nervous about us dating but they were happy that I had found someone better than Eveline. Emmett was thrilled, he had known before I did that I was in love with Claire. My sister Emily was happy for me but a little bit worried that someone would find out about my relationship with Claire.
My parents came into the room, Emmett following them in his black graduation robes.
"Ready to graduate, lil sister?", Emmett asked, hugging me.
"Yep. I've been ready," I laughed, heading downstairs to the waiting limo. Claire took her car to avoid suspicion and went ahead of us to the Gebner Botanical Gardens where the graduation was taking place.
I said my hellos to all my friends and took my seat next to Emmett and waited for my name to be called. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Eveline looking at me but I ignored her. She had been trying to get back with me after she was dumped by the jock she had cheated on me with. I wasn't interested.
"Scribner, Emma," Principal Evans called. I walked up onto the stage to receive my diploma and returned to my seat, passing my brother as he went up to receive his diploma. The rest of graduation passed by in a blur.
We went to Red Lobster for dinner afterwards and then Claire took me to a nearby lake.
"What are we doing here?", I asked, sitting on a bench. She smiled and knelt on one knee in front of me.
I stared at her in shock while she took out a diamond ring."Baby, I've known from the moment that I first saw you that I wanted you forever. Waking up to your smile in the morning for the rest of my life would be the greatest honor. Will you marry me?", Claire asked, biting her lip nervously.
"Yes! A thousand times yes!!", I cried, letting her slide the ringer on my finger. I threw my arms around her and kissed her.
My future, our future, shine brighter than the brightest star.
