back to the beginning of the day! we love a messy timeline

hyunjoon stood still as his mother tied the apron behind his waist.
"thank you, mama" he smiled, hugging her.
"of course joonie" she returned the hug.
"you two ready to open shop?" hyunjoon's father asked.
"yes papa!" hyunjoon smiled wide.
hyunjoon's father unlocked the door to the cafe and flipped the sign to 'open'.
they had other people working there but they were the only three workers who were in all day, every day. they did own the cafe after all.
mrs. heo often worked the cash register, hyunjoon waited and cleaned the tables and mr. heo was usually doing whatever it was he did in his office.
hyunjoon loved his parents. they had their ups and downs of course but that was no match for them. hyunjoon even came out to them as gay at the age of 13. his mother was confused and conflicted at first, but both parents came to love and accept him and he couldn't appreciate that more.
hyunjoon, being an only child who was also home-schooled, led to them becoming a very close family.
however, a smile part of this back fired.
growing up, hyunjoon was incredibly shy yet very lonely. he only had a few cousins he was close with so other than that, he didn't really talk to anyone that was even close to his age.
hyunjoon was still like that to this day.
he loved the entertaining conversations with children, the serious talks with adults and the wishful conversation he had with elders when they asked what he wanted to do with his future. but talking to anyone his age made him so nervous.
most kids in the area already new each other since they went to the same school. that made fitting into a friend group even harder for hyunjoon. the only friends his age he had actually made were through the internet.
but hyunjoon loved them.
he was content with his life so far.

hyunjoon got himself mentally prepared for the lunch rush. the high school kids got out at this time so some would drop by and get drinks or snacks. thankfully, they were mostly regular customers that hyunjoon had already adapted to. but lately there had been a group of 3 guys coming in and they were a bit too much for his little gay heart.
it didn't help that one of them kept staring either.
all hyunjoon could do was hope they wouldn't show up, for the sake of his heart. but alas, as soon as he stepped out, he saw two of them walk in and could only guess that the third was on his way.
hyunjoon waited another table, hoping someone else would serve them.
but once again, as soon as he turned around, he realized the only other waiter on the job was finishing up their break.
luck just wasn't on his side that day, was it?
hyunjoon hesitantly approached the table.
"hello! what may i get for you boys?"
he wrote down the first two boys' order, trying to ignore the boy who was basically drooling over him.
"and for you?" he asked him.
the handsome boy finally seemed to snap out of it.
"right! uhm- some cake please!" he said.
"okay, what flavor?" hyunjoon asked.
he looked at the boy only to find him staring again. stifling a laugh, he asked again.
"oh- uhhh-- what ever you recommend!-" he said.
hyunjoon nodded and walked off as he wrote down the order.
but he couldn't help but giggle, hearing them begin to bicker.
