002 ~ The Eight Cities of Belmoure Kingdom

LEISURELY sitting at the top of the bell tower, Candice watched the city filled with colorful bright lights. People are buzzing; excited to go home to their love ones, excited to finally have some rest. Everyone looks so carefree.

"Ah, Marienne looks like a peaceful city. It's really deceiving. I wonder how many of those smiles are real, and how many are rehearsed," Candice wondered.

There are eight major cities in this kingdom: Belmoure, Marienne, Rosseria, Galopica, Hammoth, Aquaria, Esdeathe and Illbirth. And all of them have a dark side unknown to the world.

Belmoure is the capital city of the Kingdom of Belmoure. It is the first city established by this kingdom. And this is also the root of all evil where the ruthless Black Conqueror resides. It is located at the heart of the kingdom and has the tightest security. The king's palace is located north of the city and is surrounded by a 300-feet tall thick brick wall with one heavy gate made of the strongest wood and metal. This gate was only lifted during some occasions: one is the return and departure of the Black Conqueror; and another is when the palace permits visitors to have an audience with the royal family.

Surrounding the outer wall of the capital, Marienne and Rosseria can be found. In the east, aromatic fragrance of colorful flowers and freshly brewed coffee fill the air around the city of flowers: Rosseria. Ladies and gentlemen from different noble families filled the streets and coffee shops with hearts and flatteries. The romantic ambiance of the city brings forth the peaceful and heartfelt love of these youngsters --- and even those who just want to have fun. The harmonious and slow-paced atmosphere of this city is the opposite of Marienne.

Marienne is a lively residential city filled with loving families. Located west of the capital city, it also serves as a place for travelers and merchants to rest and stay. Because of this, different cultures can be found on this side of the kingdom.

Galopica is a huge pastureland surrounding the inner part of the kingdom. It is located outside of the walls of Marienne and Rosseria. People of Galopica live a simple life. Tending for their cows, horses, pigs, chicken and other livestock, they provide the largest portion of the kingdom's food supply. But because of having such a vast land, they were taxed the most, too. Majority of the Kingdom of Belmoure's taxes came from these breeders.

Another city of Belmoure is Hammoth, the city of tinkers, which is located at the southern part of the mainland. The best blacksmiths and carpenters of the kingdom all came from here. And the palace's weaponries are also made in this city.

North east of the kingdom --- detached from the mainland --- Aquaria, also known as the city of water, can be found. Surrounded by the vast blue ocean and blessed with abundant source of food and resources, the people of Aquaria lives a diligent life --- working non-stop, day and night --- without any regards to ones health. They took pride of their work and also serve as the watchtower for northern attacks from invaders.

If there is a north east watch tower, the Kingdom of Belmoure also has Esdeathe as their south west watchtower. Aside from guarding the southern border of the kingdom, Esdeathe is also known as the city of the dead. This is a land specifically intended for imprisoning and executing law offenders. Whether one's crime is light or heinous, everyone is thrown in this dead land and put into either heavy labor or harshest punishment.

But one doesn't really have to be sent here to experience a living hell. Because at the eight city of Belmoure Kingdom, people of Illbirth are treated as trash and slave --- and therefore, the place is known as the city of slaves. This is the only city where one can obtain a slave for themselves. Every resident of Illbirth is being sold for slavery and every one of them is illiterate and extremely poor. And this city is the birthplace of Candice.

It's been a decade since Candice last set foot on that city --- but never in her entire life did she miss that place.

Candice now resides on Belmoure. Together with her foster father, they live as a normal family. They are neither rich, nor poor --- well at least, not in the eyes of the citylanders.

She was just in Marienne today because of her mission: to assassinate Thompson Mcgoulgar. And now that she's finished with her job, she spends the rest of the night loafing around --- stargazing --- waiting for her next mission.

Candice was enjoying the night breeze when a Barred owl flew towards her. It has a combination of dark gray feathers and ash gray feathers. It has huge pitch black eyes and a yellow beak. It is one of the Black Heart's messenger owls.

Candice raised her left arm and the bird landed on her leather armband. Candice took the small tube tied on its feet and sent the bird back to the sky.

'The crow will fall at the right time. Together with its flock, they mingle with the seventy-four doves in the area.'

This is a message pertaining to a meeting. The crow symbolizes the leader of the Black Heart Rebels, while the flock pertains to his soldiers and commanders.

The side of Candice's lips curled up.

"Nine in the evening at Area 74 M. Got it." She ate the paper right after she finished reading it.

The Black Heart Rebels have absolute rules that must be followed at all times:
Don't be late.
Don't hesitate.
Never leave traces.
And never get caught.

If you ever get caught, be prepared to die --- either by your own hands, or by the hands of the Black Heart Rebels...

Because the Black Heart Rebels do not allow any mistake. They don't have a heart to forgive. IT IS DO OR DIE!

And that's what makes this army strong --- and unbeatable.

That's the kind of soldiers that a Candice Claire Montgomery handles andreigns over.
