I jolted up, hearing a loud clunk. I felt Tangy brush up against my side, cowering behind me.
The door opened, a white gateway shining into the darkened room. I stood still for a moment, before sniffing the air and crawling out. I finally stood up on my legs, but they were burning with pain. "A-are you okay?" Tangy peered around, softly grabbing onto my wrist.
"M-mhm..im okay.." I sighed. Walking out, I flinched at the dim overseeing lights. The cells were locked up in a long hallway. I turned to my right, and the entrance was blocked by two guards. I sneered a bit, before backing away from them. "I-it's okay Mint! They won't hurt you! We're supposed to go the..uhm..other way.." Tangy shifted himself away from the guards, and into the rest of the hallway. At the end, was a small doorway. I limped slowly, with Tangy held onto my arm. Our feet made small pitter patters that echoed in the quietness of the cell hall. We went through the small doorway, into a bigger doorway that led into a large, grassy acre, huge grey steel walls secluding us in. Other taffies where scattered about, chatting and enjoying each other's company. I felt Tangy's other hand wrap around my arm, as he pushed himself behind me.
"I just hope Coco is here.." He'd purr worriedly. "Coco?" I asked, dragging him along as we walked further into the pasture. "S-she's my friend..she's..really nice.." I let out a smile. "Well, do you know what she looks like?" We came to a stop, under a small tree, sitting down. We started to get a few looks, but I brushed them off. "Well, before i got blinded, i remember coco is white..she has a few brown stripes on her.." Tangy would murmur a bit, snuggling up against me. I looked around, quickly spotting Tangy's friend just a few feet away. "Ah! She's over there. I'll go get her, i'll be right back-" "Nono! Mint!" He'd interrupt me. "Please..i want to stay with you..im just, really scared." I could tell we were gaining more looks from the other taffies. "Well, if it makes you feel safer you can come with me." I chuckled nervously. Tangy would hum, sleepily following my arm as I trotted over to Coco. I stopped in front of her, and she immediately recognized Tangy. Coco herself didn't look too well either. She had a bandage wrapped tightly over the left side of her body/face. Her left wrapper and left arm was also missing. Coco used her only eye to gaze at Tangy, but it quickly filled up with horror. She didn't speak, but instead ran up to Tangy and grabbed the sides of his face. Coco worriedly examined his eyes. She began to softly croak with tears, sulking down to his feet, pulling Tangy down with her. "H-hey! It's okay Coco!" Tangy reassured, but Coco shook her head. It seemed to me that Coco could only just barely talk. She'd hug him closely. Coco then stood up, grabbing onto Tangy's wrists, and dragging him off. I hesitated for a second, jogging over to them. We arrived to a larger taffy, he seemed like an oldie. A few other small taffies crowded around him. Coco placed Tangy in front of him, and the Large taffy took a close look at Tangy. He'd grit his teeth, sizzling. "That doesn't look good.." The large taffy reached for something behind himself, a roll of bandages. "I hope you and Coco are the only ones i hafta patch up today..you poor kids." He'd gently wrap some of the bandage around Tangy's eyes, looping up a tight knot in the back. "Thank you..Strawberry." Tangy purred. Strawberry was the big fellow's name. I huffed a giggle. Tangy came crawling over to me, putting his hand on my wrist once more. Coco came over, and looked up at me. "Who.." She'd wheeze. Her voice sounded like wood grinding on sandpaper. "O-oh, i'm Mint. I woke up with Tangy here back in our cells." I nervously chuckled. She'd give me a stern look, before looking away. Coco pointed over to a another taffy. "Talk." She demanded. I nodded slowly, walking over to the directed taffy, Tangy followed close behind.
The taffy was surrounded by other small taffies, in which they all chirped loudly. Coco sat down in the circle, signaling for us to as well. I thumped onto the soft grassy earth, softly bringing Tangy down with me. "Did you bring us a newbie, Coconut?" The taffy turned to her. Coco nodded. "Ah, a pleasure to meet you! I am Banana Taffy, or you may perhaps call me Banana." He seemed like an oldie as well. I nodded. "I am Green Peppermint Taffy, but I go by Mint." Banana chuckled, covering his mouth a bit with his hand. "I think I've heard of ya! Anywho! I've asked to gather some of ya here. There's been news of a Taffy that escaped. Successfully." The small crowd of taffies bursted into gasps and chatter as Banana directed his conversation from Mint to the entire crowd. "Woah! Really? Are you hearing this Mint!" Tangy jumped up, tugging on my arm. "Yeah..that's amazing." I smiled.
