Erin opened up her book and began to study. A couple months til graduation and she could feel the senioritis in her bones. Everything in her wanted to get up and leave, but she couldn't risk her gpa slipping. She had to get into UCLA.

The teacher paced around the room, watching what the students were doing. Her clay brown heels clacking the floor with every step she took.

clack clack clack

Erin groaned. The sound was driving her crazy, she just wanted to leave even more.
Before she could convince herself to fake sick, someone knocked on the door.
"Looks like our new teacher's assistant is here."
Mrs. Gúnu said.

Erin's jaw almost dropped completely to the ground. Leom walked into the room. She was smiling and waving, Her freckles crinkling up on her nose.

Erin shifted uncomfortably in her seat. What was up with this chick? And why did she make her feel like this.

She had the sleeves rolled up on her button up. There were tattoos up and down her arms, which Erin found attractive.

"This is miss Leom Matthews. You can call her Ms. Matthews," Mrs. Gúnu said while motioning to the mysterious girl next to her.
"You can have a seat next to Erin for now. Erin please wave."

"Seriously." Erin muttered under her breath.
She waved and Leom smiled.
She sat down next to her, and smirked at her.
"Fancy meeting you here." She said chuckling.
Erin rolled her eyes.
"It's almost like you're stalking me." She joked.
Leom laughed.
"I'm definitely not, but one might actually do so, considering how beautiful you are."

Erin felt her face blushing. Was this girl really hitting on her?
"Thank you..." was all she could find to say.

The class went on, and soon ended without Leom or Erin speaking a word to each other. Maybe Leom was finally getting the hint, Erin did not want her.

They day went by without anymore surprises.
Erin was headed to her dad's car when Ash stopped her.
"Hey babe, what you doing tonight?"he kissed her cheek.
"I actually really have to study. And I'm waiting on Mrs. Gúnu to assign me my partner through email."
"Well just call me, okay? I need to see you tonight."
He walked away suddenly and Erin got into her dad's car, wondering why he was acting so weird.

The car ride home with her dad was normal as usual. He was going on and on about church drama, and lecturing Erin about what she needed to do after high school. He wanted her to be apart of the church staff, and if not then he wanted her to attend Lincoln Christian University. Which she was not doing.

She didn't mind joining the church staff. She loved her church family. She just wasn't sure how she felt about the whole concept of "religion."
Her father made it hard to even tolerate it.

Her laptop pinged, interrupting her studying. It was the email saying who was paired with who.

"Shut the fuck up.. are you serious!??" She said aloud reading her name next to Leom's. How was she apart of it anyway? She was a student teacher, not a regular student.
Her phone rang, it was Ash.

"Hello?"
"Erin, what are you doing?"
"Um.. studying why—"
"I need to see you. Tonight. By the rose bud tree, in two hours."
"What's going on?"
"Just be there, okay?"
He suddenly hung up and Erin put a hand to her face. Today was weird, and Erin felt frustrated.
Her phone rang again and she almost threw it.
She didn't recognize the number.

"What?!" She snapped.
"Calm down killa killa, it's Leom. You're my project partner."
"Which makes no sense, because you aren't a student."
"There's an odd number in the class, so here we are."
