Chapter 1.
My name is Lauren Martinez. I’m 17 years old. I live with my mom and dad in Laguna Beach, California along with my 4 sisters and 3 brothers. I will be a senior at Laguna Beach High school in September. There’s my sister Hannah she’s 15, Avery is 14, Serenity is 13, and Riley is 10. My brother Tanner is 18, Wyatt is 16 and Brody is 7. Today is the first day of summer vacation. My brother Tanner is graduating high school tomorrow. My best friend Alyssa and I are taking my sister Hannah and her friend Zoe to a Jonas Brother’s concert tonight. We had front row seats. Zoe is Alyssa’s younger sister. Alyssa and Zoe’s dad works for a radio station so he can get any concert tickets in Laguna Beach for free. Hannah and Zoe loved The Jonas Brothers. Alyssa and I weren’t that into them but because they needed someone to go to the concert with them we volunteered. Her dad also got us backstage passes so we’d even get to meet them which I got to admit is pretty cool. I was in the kitchen eating a bowl of cereal when my iPhone rang. It was Alyssa.
“Hello?” I answered.
“Please tell me Hannah is bothering you about this concert as much as Zoe is bothering me.” Alyssa had said to me.
“Sorry to break it to you. I haven’t even seen Hannah all morning.” I said laughing.
Alyssa laughed. “You got the good sister. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know we’ll be at your house at 7:00 tonight.”
The concert started at 8:00.
“Okay. We’ll see you then.”
“Okay bye.” Alyssa said.
“Bye.” I said and hung up the phone.
My mom and dad we’re already at work. My mom Olivia is a lawyer and my dad Matt is a police officer. I was putting my bowl and spoon into the dishwasher when my brother Tanner walked into the kitchen.
“Are you excited for the concert tonight? I know Hannah is.” Tanner said laughing.
I laughed. “I mean I’d be more excited if it was someone that I was a fan of.” I answered.
“What are you doing today?” I asked.
“I think Leah and I are going to go play some putt putt and then go eat dinner somewhere.” Tanner told me.
Leah is his girlfriend. They’ve been together for 4 years.
“Where’s Jordan today?” Tanner asked me.
“He left for Myrtle Beach with his family and Jayden.” I answered.
“Will they be gone the whole summer?”
“Unfortunately they will be.”
Jordan is my boyfriend. We have been together for 3 years.
“Is he going to come back and visit at all?” Tanner questioned.
“He’s going to try. That’s kind of a far distance though. But we’ll be fine. I have no worries.” I said.
“That’s good. Have fun tonight.” He said.
“I will. You have fun too. Tell Leah I love her.”
Tanner laughed. “I will.”
At around 5:00 I started getting ready for the concert. I took a shower and brushed my teeth. I went into my room and got dressed. I was wearing a dress. The top of it was black and the bottom of it was light blue with a pair of sandals. I sat down at my vanity and straightened my hair.
Alyssa and Zoe got here at 7:00 like she said they would be. My parents were still at work. Wyatt was with his friend Ryan. Avery, Serenity, Riley and Brody we’re at my grandparent’s house. Alyssa, Hannah and Zoe got into my car. I have a 2013 GMC Terrain Denali. Alyssa was in the passenger seat and Hannah and Zoe we’re in the back. It was a half an hour drive to the venue.
A half an hour later we reached the venue. I parked the car and all 4 of us got out of my car. We walked to the door and showed the security guards our tickets. One of the guards inside led us to our seats. I was sitting next to Alyssa and Hannah. Zoe was sitting on the other side of Hannah. The venue was packed and had music playing from the speakers. At 8:00 the music stopped playing and smoke started coming from the stage. Then 3 boys appeared on stage and everyone from the crowd started screaming.
“How are we all doing tonight?” Kevin asked the crowd.
All the girls started screaming including Hannah and Zoe.
“We have a great concert ready for you guys tonight!” Nick screamed.
“Let me hear you make some noise!” Joe screamed into the microphone.
All the girls started screaming again.
Music started booming through the amps. The first 3 songs I had to admit weren’t that bad. Then they started playing “Please Be Mine.” Hannah had told me what the song was called.
After the song ended Joe had looked at me and smiled. I thought I’d be friendly and smile back. They had played 3 more songs. Then they were on the final song which Hannah had told me was 6 minutes. After they played 6 minutes the concert ended.
“Thank you all for coming!” Nick screamed.
“Don’t forget to come to the meet and greet!” Kevin screamed.
“Have a great night everyone!” Joe screamed.
Joe, Kevin and Nick started to walk offstage. All of the girls were still screaming. Joe turned around, smiled at me one last time and walked offstage with Nick and Kevin.
