heartbroken.
that's all she felt.
she had her face in her hands, only seeing blurry silhouettes through her fingers and tears. her elbows were rested on the cool metal table, but the slight hurt she felt there was nothing compared to her mood.
through her fingers she saw the familiar shade of green that belonged to a certain man she stalked on instagram only hours before, walking and then suddenly stopping. she didnt dare look up.
"hello? maddy? are you alright?" a familiar voice said, this caused her to cry even more. she felt warm arms around her shoulders. she leaned into the persons body and instantly felt better, still heartbroken, but better. like she had support.
once her tears had stopped she pulled away, first seeing the colourful sweatshirt now drenched where her head had been. she then looks up to see the unique eyes of awsten knight.
"sorry for ruining your shirt" maddy said, her voice cracking at the o for sorry. she got some napkins from the table and tried to wipe away the chocolate milkshake and tears off the mans shirt. he stopped her, with her hands in his.
"the shirt will survive, but i want to know what's happened," awsten said, he tried to piece his words together carefully. "can you tell me?"
maddy suddenly felt a lump in the back of her throat, she felt like she was gonna vomit, she knew she wouldn't but the sensation was there. seeing the look in her violet eyes, awstens suddenly went wide, and in a panic he quickly spluttered out "i mean, that's if you want to i'm not forcing you to-"
the girl shut him up my hugging him. they're both standing up now, a few recipients looking over, some with confusion and others with pity.
awsten didnt care that the girl was covered in chocolate milkshake, he returned the hug tightly. he knew he didnt have a chance but he can still be friends. even if it's the death of him. he just couldnt stand the sight of her crying.
maddy sniffled, then started talking. "basically, my girlfriend got jealous that i was 'flirting' with you. i think she forgot that i was a full lesbian," awstens heart dropped at the admittance of that, but remembered that he can't be selfish and hate her because she won't like him. she can't help it. "anyway, i am officially single. for the first time in 4 years."
awsten just holds her, they stay like that for a few minutes until awsten speaks up.
"i'm so sorry that happened, if she got jealous over that than it probably wasn't the best relationship to be in. wanna go to target with me and my friend?"
maddy sighs, contemplating if she's going to or not. after a while she pulls away from awstens hug and startes at his eyes. his eyes really are pretty. she was always told she had pretty eyes, but she just found them normal since she had them all her life. but awstens were amazing, each eye a different colour.
she smiled at the boy, the happily agreed. awsten drags her by the hand to target, where they find otto.
they eventually find him in the video games secton. otto sees his vibrant green-haired friend and goes to speak "what game do you thibk geoff would want," he went to continue but saw that they weren't alone, seeing a girl with hands intertwined woth awtsens. he smirks lightly to his friend and introduces himself. "oh, hey, i'm otto." otto holds his hand out to the girl, maddys eyes widen in happiness.
"oh my god! otto! do you remember me? its maddy colvetti! we went to primary school together until i had to move to australia!" maddy screams, competing against the already screaming kids and disappointed looking mothers. otto's eyes widen and he smiles. awsten just stands there, a dumbfounded look on his face.
"oh my god maddy! i knew you were familiar!" they go to hug each other, then realised maddy was covered in chocolate syrup and spoiling milk. he chuckled lightly athis old friend. "let's catch up once you get cleaned up."
