Mr. Cunningham was a modest young man, he had studied English Literature and had obtained a modest job as an editor's assistant. He was also helping distributing the morning newspaper on different streets of London.
he was always curious and eager to learn new things.
As to what happened to him, it was on a certain fateful day, when a certain book found its way in his hands.Mr. Cunningham, being a man of literature, always loved reading all kind of books.
He would sometimes go to the Library and search for curious and intriguing books for hours.
Had he never entered a certain alley of a certain book store, he never would have found the book with a black cover.
Alas, this untitled book had picked Cunningham's interest, for it had neither a title or an author. It was a nameless book in a dark corner of a certain store. Lord knows how he would have reacted if he had known what misfortune this book would bring him.
Book in hand, he opened it and started reading.
The more he read it, the more his complexion was changing, his eyes gradually turning into red.
Once his eyes had turned completely red, they became unfocused for a few moments before turning back to their original shade of blue.
As in some sort of trance, he took the book to the cashier and bought it.
Once he got back to his flat, he hid the book in the floor under his bed and went to sleep. The following morning, he got up and ready for work without the slightest memory of the book.
