Finding Out

3 0 1

Departing the lift, after filling it with just themselves, S and A set there destination to the canteen after finding out that their cherished dessert had just been put out. Their hands intertwined ... as usual ... they hurriedly walked through the populous hall and into the canteen.

For S the day was typical and nothing seemed unexpected, but for A - well - she was about to acknowledge and admit the immense secret of her life ... and to her best friend. Beginning to spread; a feeling of anxiety slithered through A's body as her thick cocoa hair started to waver back and forth frantically. Meandering her body in between the tacky, rice covered tables A started to admit the truth as S sheepishly accompanied behind.

A's sentence came out as separate words as the uncertainty of judgement began to cultivate.

"I .. don't"

Fading gradually her smile left her face and her body stiffened as she continued to speak.

"think"
"I'm"
"One hundred per cent... straight"

Without thinking S brutally blurted out a subjective sounding response using the straightforward word;

"What?!"

S' shock was self-evident and pronounced as she could barely process her thoughts. Repeating themselves, sentences circled around in her mind as she processed what her best friend had just told her but weirdly S started to feel an emotion, that she had never felt before, flourishing in her mind, unease began to increase inside of her but before she could let the confusing feeling take hold of her she focused on something else.

Something bigger.

The fact that her best friend just admitted she was bisexual.

Words stuck themselves inside of S' mouth, every time she would try to say something the words just couldn't evade her mouth; cornered inside. S decided that, maybe - just maybe, speaking wasn't the smartest idea and that the smartest idea might just be to process what she had just been told.

So as S stared at A's petite figure that stood still as she stuffed cake into her mouth S started to notice things about A that she had never paid attention to before;

like how her nose was wide but fit her face perfectly

and how her eyes filled themselves with a light that glistened constantly

and how all of her body was  ... perfect.

But before S could continue her train of thought the school bell rang and the daunting thought of literature slaughtered any other thoughts inside S' mind.
