The sun was breaking the skyline as the soft sound of fresh brewing coffee filled the silence. Tony Stark poured himself a cup, sprinkling in a spoonful of sugar and a splash of cream. He takes a sip, smiling at the slightly bitter taste.
"'Morning, Stark," Natasha Romanoff greeted as she appeared from the hallway. She was still dressed in her night clothes; a silky matching pair of pants and shirt.
"'Morning," Tony replied, setting his mug down on the counter. He leaned against the marble by his elbows, letting his chin drop to his chest.
"We've got a meeting with Fury at nine," Natasha stated, pouring herself her own mug of coffee.
Tony groaned in annoyance. "What if I just skip it?" he asked, half joking.
With a roll of her eyes, Natasha set her mug down. "Tony, you missed the last two meetings; you're going."

"Take a seat."
"What's this meeting about, pirate-man?" Tony asked, sass layering his voice.
"I've gathered you here to talk about the group of vigilantes roaming around Queens," Fury replied with a roll of his eyes. "I want you to bring them in for questioning."
"Why?" Natasha asked as she filed her nails with a pocket knife. "They aren't doing anything bad."
"I know," the director said. "I want to recruit them; they seem like excellent allies."
"Wait, wait, wait," Clint interrupted, leaning forward in his seat. "You want to recruit a bunch of spider people that we don't even know?"
"I didn't know who you were before I recruited you, Barton," Fury snapped. "Don't get smart with me, this is a serious matter. If we're able to get these vigilantes on our side, it guarantees that they won't attack us."
"He has a point," Wanda said. "I've seen them in action on the television before. They can do some pretty cool things."
"I don't think we need them," Steve stated in his commander voice. "We're just fine with out them, and if they decide to attack us, we'll be able to fight them off. If they end up dead, then good riddance."
Fury glared at Steve, putting his hands on the table. The director stood up and stalked over to the captain, looking down at him.
"Rogers, if you aren't up for this task, then I'll gladly see you in retirement."
"What?" Steve asked incredulously, staring up at the director.
"You work for me, that means you follow my orders. If you don't like it, then kiss being an avenger goodbye."

Peter carefully placed the spider in a small glass cage, closing the lid softly. He watched in awe as the small arachnid scuttled around its new home, exploring every inch of the makeshift habitat.
