Prologue: My sister Deidre and I seem too happy to be going out of town. I know it seems weird but I love to see new things while my sister prefers to shop. Don’t get me wrong I love shopping but not all day every day because I will get bored very quick. It always seem like she was having more fun than me but I didn’t care because I spent most of my time reading and writing.
Anyway the trip was something relaxing and fun for everyone. I thought about not going until I realized One Direction, my sister, and my friends were coming. I knew how the typical bad boys would hurt my sister in a matter of minutes. So that’s one reason why I was being dragged to go. The other reasons was because I had a SkillsUSAmeeting and competition in Nashville, Tennessee, book club meeting, drama club, and step team competitions there also. So it would be a long two weeks in Nashville, Tennessee. But, I was hopeful that something good would come out of the whole thing.
It seems my sister felt the same way because I heard her screaming and laughing on the phone with one of her friends while I sat in my room practicing the routines I had to learn for my competitions and meeting. It didn’t take me long since I practiced almost all the time. By the next day she was still on the phone and I was on Skype with one of my friends from SkillsUSA.
Being with my sister is fun. We always find ways to make each other laugh and somewhere down the line we always get into trouble. After I got done doing what I was doing I took my earphones out of my ears to hear my sister singing What Makes You Beautiful. She got to my favorite part when I joined her. We started to sing the part that went like this, “Baby you light up my world like nobody else. The way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed. And when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell. You don't know-oh-oh, you don't know you're beautiful. If only you saw what I can see, you'd understand why I want you so desperately. Right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe, you don't know-oh-oh, you don't know you're beautiful. That's What Makes You Beautiful.”
After we got done singing that my phone went off saying my mom texted me asking me what I had quoted by One Direction the other day and I told her it was a quote by Harry Styles that said, “It only takes a second to call a girl fat and She'll take a lifetime trying to starve herself. Think before you act.” When I told her that she texted back saying, “Yeah Why!!” My mom always has my sister, brother and me laughing all the time. But, it was not over because my mom always made this one quote stick in my head by Zayn Malik, “Don’t ever let a guy make you feel ugly because no matter what you are beautiful with or without him.”
When I was looking over the program for SkillsUSA someone asked me what it was. So I told them SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel.
