her footsteps lightly thumped with the pavement, on the way to the bus stop.
it wasn't so far, just one crossing and a few minutes of waiting. or so she hoped.

as the glaring light of the sun noticeably gets faint by the minute, she sees a familiar figure in the distance. flailing their arms carelessly, almost in an ignorant bliss.

the chalky sidewalk dampens from the small drops of water, and the girl continues to take smaller strides.

the rain persistently pitter patters as chaewon takes her umbrella from her backpack and collapses it open, sheltering her from the now heavy rainfall.
and finding the girl looking distantly, now a hood pulled over her head.

debating whether she should shield the somber looking girl from the rain, as her hoodie can only keep her dry for moments, before soaking up in this weather.

chaewon just stood there, thinking for a moment.
why would she be looking this down, right after a date? they seemed to be enjoying eachother's company, but i look to find her here all lost.

moments after, she huffs out a breath before approaching her,

oh minju...

and brings forth her umbrella close enough to cover the both of them dry from the wet streets.

minju's gaze met hers for a moment, before swerving with eyes wide open, in disbelief.

you look like a frog.. she thought.
that even the rain made her look more convincing. still cute.

"what are you doing out here?" said the owner of the umbrella. "we should get going, cmon min."

it wasn't like she had a choice anyway, and she couldn't stay out for this long, so minju took in the warmth of their space from the cold she didn't prefer having.

she didn't expect chaewon to actually appear, so soon, after thinking about her absence through her supposed walk in the evening.

the sounds of pattering rain were now muffled, yet louder than the silence between the two.
and the limited space this umbrella gives only brings them closer.

chaewon decides to break the ice and ask again, "what were you thinking about back there anywa–"

before chaewon could finish, her foot slipped off the pavement, close to tripping head first.
luckily it was only a falter, as she held onto the girl beside her.

"you.." minju pulled her up.

by the time chaewon had stood up straight, her ears were already feeling a rush of warmth. the latter noticed and proceded to think their embarrassment was quite adorable.

"–should let me hold the umbrella." chaewon gave her the handle, and just stayed close.

"sorry, i wasn't looking."

"..."

"do you hate me?" minju said, out of the blue.

"no?" quite the opposite actually.
"otherwise i wouldn't be sharing my umbrella with you."

"..i went out to think about everything bothering me, i didn't plan on watching it rain either."

"oh, so you're just gonna pretend you didn't go out with someone on the same day."

"why do you think that?"
"im a mess right now, haven't you noticed?"

chaewon's gaze met minju's empty ones, and before realizing that they had been staring at such short proximity, as if looking for answers.
minju tore her gaze off the girl, and waited until the bus had arrived.
