Off to the side of a small stream there grew a small sapling. Everyday, next to the tree, a young girl appeared. She would lean lightly against the baby tree and quietly watch the water trickle by. There was also a boy who lived in the river. He noticed the girl's gentle gaze and became curiously. He would water the girl through the mirror of the water and thought about her constantly.
She had strawberry blonde hair perched up in pigtails on the sides of her head. She wore a grapefruit colored kimono that was decorated with falling peach blossoms. The boy thought she was extremely cute and, after weeks of watching her, he finally mustered up the courage to squeak out a small, "Hi!"
A chime like sound filled teh air and the boy's face burned a bright red as he watched the girl begin to laugh lightly. Giggling the girl blushed and waved back. His teal colored eyes widened and he dove back into the slowly flowing waters. Each day, the boy would swim up to the bank and the girl would sit against her tree. The pair talked and giggled for hours on end. One day the boy looked at her strangely and asked why she never left the tree's side.
She looked down sorrowfully and responded, "I can't leave the reach of the roots."
The boy couldn't believe his ears. He could move freely alond the stream's waters, but his dear friend could barely move 2 feet.
Noticing his forlourn look she smiled comfortably, "It is not all bad." She looked down, smiling softly, "As the tree grows I will be able to go farther and I will grow with it." Pink dusted across her cheeks, "And with you here there is no need for me to leave."
He felt the heat radiating off his cheeks and a determined look swiftly swept over his boyish feature.
"I will help too!" The girl looked up in surprise as the boy continued his outburst. " I will work my hardest to move the land and push my water closer to you! Then we can be together forever!"
Tears welled up in the young girl's eyes until they overflowed, dripping slowly to the ground, one bye one.
"You'd do that.... for me?"
Flashing her a charming grin the boy answered confidently, "We'll be together before you know it!" and then his head disappeared beneath the rippling current.
Years passed and the stream grew bigger and the power of its waters increased. The sapling had also grown and blossomed into a mature young peach tree. As time passded the land between the stream (now big enough to be called a River) and the tree eroded away as the River beat at the land to form a bend. The girl and the boy continues to meet everyday as they pushed towards each other. As the tree's roots grew, the girl crawled closer and cloaser to the boy resting against the bank.
One day the boy swam up to find the girl sitting near the banks. Her eyes were closed and a peaceful smile rested upon her face. Over the year her hair had grown out and now rested at the small of her back. She wore the same king of grapefruit/peach blossom kimono that rested comofortably on her curves. The boy had grown too. His teal/ deark seagreen hair was now cropped just aboce his shoulders and his face lost the pudgy child look and had grown more angular. His gaze filled with adoration as he came up to his usual resting spot. Her eyes floated open as she sent a smile his way.
"How are you doing today?" He asked.
The girl looked at peace and completely content with the world as she returned the boy's soft gaze, "I feel cool, as if something cold is rushing past my toes."
With widened eyes the boy dove beneath the water's surface. The girl swiftly leaned forward in worry and scanned the water's surface looking for any sign of the boy. Suddenly, she felt a tug on her ankle.
"Uuo-wahhhhhh!" She squealed as she fell face first into the river.
The water was like nothing she had ever felt before. All the moving particles, the feeling of being submerged, it was all overwhelming.
"------!" Whydid you-" she suddenly stopped speaking as her gaze connected witht eh brinning boy's. Looking around in disbelief she sees something poking though the dirt and rock wall of the river.
"It's your roots, ------!"
"My... roots..." Turning her gaze up towards the boy her eyes let loose a flood of tears that cascaded down her cheeks, "You mean.. I can...?"
The boy grinned wildly and with arms open wide laughed victoriously.
"------!" The girl cired while tackling him in a hug.
The pair sat together in the flowing water and laughed gleefully. After calming down they stared deep into each other's eyes. Over the years of talking and fighting for their goal the two didn't realize that the innocent feelings of childhood friendship has taken root and blossomed into something so much more.
...."I love you".......
They both whispered.
All seemed well, but happiness can't last forever.
Girl's P.O.V
My Head hurts, I thought as I fought to open up my eyes. What happend? I felt heavy and lost, my memories seemed blurry and broken. I felt a tug on my hand as I was pulled into someone's lap. Fighting one more time to force open my eyes I felt blinded as light flooded my vision. I found myself starring into 2 beautiful teal eyes. Blinking slowly I looked around. There was a short old woman with a giant head starring at us intensly. She had a large mole above her abnormaly big nose, right between two wide eyes.
"So do we have a deal?" She asked smoothly.
The boy holding me tightened his grip and glared harshly at the woman.
"And what about my terms?" He shot back fiercely.
"Yes, Yes, I agree to your silly wish, now.. DO.. WE... HAVE.... A.... DEAL?"
Reluctantly the boy signed the paper floating infront of us. The paper flew towards the old woman's outstretched hand.
"------ and ------ hmmmm? What fitting names. Now they belong to me!"
I looked up at the boy nervously.
"You now work for me and you will anser to these new names. Do you understand, Haku... Momo?"
Holding onto each other tighly we answered the woman, "Yes,..... Yubaba."
